The composition of the staff shows Jans is planning on recruiting nationally and not inside the usual Ohio/Michigan/Indiana territories. Ragland is the only one with any local connections. There are a glut of D-I programs in this state all battling for the same players and talent is talent no matter where it comes from. Wichita State didn't just recruit players from Kansas and we shouldn't similarly restrict ourselves geographically.

While I agree, it's easier and cheaper to recruit at home, it builds a community connection and it acts to insulate some guys from the dreaded homesickness that so many college students suffer from.

Because building a connection to the NWO community is so important I would try to recruit a guy every other year or so from the area and definitely push for walk-ons there.
