Hello to everyone reading this forum...........Although there were some negative response to the cheerleaders in the BG news, I would like to say that any feedback is important and essential to any sport or activity. As captain of the co-ed squad, one of our main goals this year was to get noticed and appreciated more by the student body, falcon fans, and anyone else who comes to the games.
We met this goal becuase we have received both positive and negative critizism from spectators. We have a lot of people on our squads (especially guys) who have never done this type of thing before in their lives. We all practice very hard and often and are not receiving any type of schloarship or any university credits for all of our effort. We are also some of the most faithful fans because we cheer at every game and are present regardless of class conflicts. (there are special circumstances)
As a future teacher, I know it is important to notice areas of weakness. We received numerous compliments after the Toledo game about our energy and we have really tried to get the CHEER-LEADING aspect back into the games. Some of our guys try and do simple things like start claps, bang on their megs, and high five the fans in the stands. I agree we could always be better. Some things we hope to try at the next game, are a FALCON spellout on the floor, and we want to make larger signs, in hope that more people will yell if they have visual aids
I know this is long and I apologize, but I just want to thank everyone again for their comments. One thing I find important to note is that the gentleman who commented to the BG News did a lot of complaining, but offered no suggestions. Again, as a teacher, I value the importance of constructive feedback. I have said it before and I will say it again, we are always open to suggestions from fans, players, coaches, alumni, and anyone else who supports the falcons.
