For those of you concerned about ESPN3, you can always use FirstRowSports online. You might want to download malware protection beforehand but they often provide streams to ESPN3 and other sports channels for free.

IIRC, ESPN3 games can be scheduled at any time BG wants. That was the explanation last season for the Toledo game. So I still fail to see how it's worse than having no television, unless that's hyperbole from people without access.

Exactly. I enjoy watching the away games.AyZiggy97 wrote: So I still fail to see how it's worse than having no television, unless that's hyperbole from people without access.

Re: 2014 Televised Games
I never said that being on ESPN3 was worse than no TV at all. I definitely don't think that's true. But for me, and many others, it's not any better than no TV at all...that was what I said.
My issue isn't with the ESPN3 games anyhow. They're irrelevant to me. My issue is why we're letting ESPN tell us to play our biggest draw game at the worst Saturday timeslot. That IU game should be either a late afternoon or evening game with a whole day of tailgating/festivities leading up to it. Now don't get me wrong, I'll be at the game either way, I'm just saying that I feel as though we are (once again) doing a disservice to our fanbase that would like to attend the game in order to please the powers that be at ESPN. I realize it's a rant I make every year and every year it makes no difference to the MAC scheduling, I just think it's terrible the way we bend over backwards for them and get so little in return.

Agreed. The crowd that poured in the stadium for that 2008 game vs Minnesota was among the loudest I've heard at any stadium anywhere. The big matchups have to be at night. Its better for fans and the Doyt can be flat out scary with a big loud crowd on hand. The schedule is set but not in stone. Any chance if enough fans contact Mr Kingston about the bad time slot he would consider negotiating a better time for kickoff, even if it means ESPN3 I stead of ESPN? He has been receptive to fans and alums so far, so you never know.hammb wrote:I never said that being on ESPN3 was worse than no TV at all. I definitely don't think that's true. It really is. The return on investment simply isn't there for f'ing with the start times as carelessly as they do. At some point the athletic directors and presidents have to acknowledge that the interests of their universities and the interests of a TV network are simply not aligned.hammb wrote: I'm just saying that I feel as though we are (once again) doing a disservice to our fanbase that would like to attend the game in order to please the powers that be at ESPN...it's terrible the way we bend over backwards for them and get so little in return.
ESPN3 is one step above Billy Bob on a ham radio. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU at least get you a modicum of national exposure. If the viewership of ESPN3 "broadcasts" hit triple digits I'd be shocked. Interestingly enough those numbers have never been published.

The WKU game has been moved to 7:30 EDT.

Didn't realize there were so many people that didn't have it. Glad I have AT&T universe. I usually have no problems.
