Wayne's World
Wayne Wilson's RIT Tigers are going to be playing in pretty fancy new rink this year! Sure sounds like it's a huge step up from what they had and what a lot of rinks have (*cough* ...US... *cough*
)!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

"We loved Ritter," men's coach Wayne Wilson says, "but this is going to be a special place, too."
Sounds a lot like what we've said about the move from Anderson to Stroh in BG and would that really be so bad for the hockey program as well?

The only thing wrong with the Ice Arena is the boneheaded marketing people who try to mess with traditions.

Re: Wayne's World
I didn't say there was anything wrong with the Ice Arena, just noted the new RIT rink has a lot perks most rinks (including ours) don't have. BTW, did you notice that RIT has 300 standing-room-only slots?pdt1081 wrote:The only thing wrong with the Ice Arena is the boneheaded marketing people who try to mess with traditions.

maybe a reference to the lame "ice-box seating", which wipes out standing room along the glass at the south end.KMey18 wrote:What traditions? Just curious.pdt1081 wrote:The only thing wrong with the Ice Arena is the boneheaded marketing people who try to mess with traditions.
yeah, I'd rather see a whole bunch of excited fans crowding up against the glass than a few over-priced and empty tables.

It's time....We need a new rink at BG. I love the ole barn but when a school like RIT can do this c'mon.

For $38 million, you get a lot of bells and whistles! And it all started with a donation of $4.5 million. If you've got that kind of dough...hand it over and we'll get started on it!ffejfalcon wrote:It's time....We need a new rink at BG. I love the ole barn but when a school like RIT can do this c'mon.

Maybe if we get back to the NCAA tournament in the next 15 years we can start bringing up a new rink.....I wouldn't hold my breath.

If we are using that logic then the Stroh Center would not exist...apollo wrote:Maybe if we get back to the NCAA tournament in the next 15 years we can start bringing up a new rink.....I wouldn't hold my breath.

I agree with basketball too....that program needs to start producing with all the cash that has been dumped in it the last 5-7 years.
16 teams make the hockey regionals....there are 59 teams, 49 if you subtract Atlantic hockey teams that don't make the tournament. Basically a 1 in 4 chance to make the tournament every year....don't be afraid to mix in a tournament appearance once in awhile.
