Yeah it's the coach's first season and all but I still think BG will do well.

I have faith in our football team.

There's a lot of reason for optimism, Dustin. The D has to reload some but they are reloading with guys who played significant minutes on a championship team. The O has to learn a new system, but they are stacked with playmakers. Losing Gallon stinks, but Herve Coby may be ready to shine. The biggest concern is getting the offense down. They can play fast, but can they play fast and smart? The transition is rather major going from a run first offense which led the nation in time of possession to a no-huddle take-a-snap-in-eight-seconds offense, and the spring game execution of the offense is a bit concerning. If the offense is humming come August, watch out. There are no defenses we face save Wisconsin which are talented enough to stop our O if they work as Coach Babers has designed.

So yes Dustin, the team could do really well this year. It should be a fun season.

@ W Kentucky - W

vs VMI - W

vs Indiana - W

@ Wisconsin - L

@ Massachusetts - W

vs Buffalo - W

@ Ohio - W

vs W Michigan - L

@ Akron - W

vs Kent State - W

@ Toledo - W

vs Ball State - W

I think we go 10-2 with a potential for 11-1 (undefeated in MAC)

Thoughts?

I don't see us losing to WMU. Heck if WMU wins 2 games I'd be stunned. Fleck can sell the program but can't coach at all by what I've seen.

Too hard this far out to call game to game, but I see another MAC East title, maybe even MAC championship as an attainable goal. It all revolves around getting the offense down. If they look clunky vs WKU I'll be worried. If the offense runs like a well oiled machine, I'll consider any loss a stunner. The team could ... could be utterly incredible this year. Like 2006 Boise State incredible. But its way too early to get that excited. For now I'll be content with starting 1-0.

Watching the strength and conditioning videos, I think the first couple games will be bumpy. This new system is going to really push some guys to their limits who perhaps aren't as athletically gifted as others. Our linemen will have to be in top shape to be able to handle running 100+ plays. It'll be interesting to see the transition.

Yeah...I'd almost expect us to be out of sync the first few games. If we're struggling in October...then I think we can worry about the season not meeting expectations.

Why, what's up with the videos?

Nothing in particular but the strength coach said himself that they're going to have to see where they are in camp to know exactly how easily they'll be able to implement the no-huddle system.

They did, but few of those players will make an impact this year. WMU was laughably bad last year with their only win being a one point win over UMass. Fleck can recruit, but I see no evidence of him knowing how to win. He inherited some good players, only two years removed from a good season and a bowl game. WMU always recruited well and was a well run program under Cubit and did not have a player retention issue. Fleck did not inherit a gutted team the way Clawson did. The fact that the team was awful, atrocious given who was on the team says to me he cannot coach. Hell of a recruiter, though.
