Looks like Roger Lewis is also slotting into Gallon's spot. He was initially listed behind Dieter at WR. No idea about Minns and Lunsford, either they've had a bad camp or they're injured? I know Lunsford showed a lot of promise last year with the second team. Looks like they also may be redshirting Ballew this year.Flipper wrote:The game notes are up for week 1...some surprises on the 2 deep. Gus Schwieterman is the back up at NG. Croley is the back up at DT. What's up with Minns and Lunsford? Dernard Turner is back on schollie and back on the 2 deep backing up Ward at FS. Nate Locke and Austin Valdez have found their way onto the 2 deep at LB. Locke may start at Mike

Re: Roster updates
WR corp is young after Jackson and Burbrink...but very talented. I wonder how the TE will fare in this offense. I loved how Clawson used Bayer and Beck. Pohlman is a weapon with size.

Re: Roster updates
Two redshirts burned as far as I could tell.
1 - Roger Lewis
13 - Eddie Johnson
Do we have 3 Hunters on the team? I'm aware of 2
1 - Darryl Hunter starting corner.
68 - Ryan Hunter on the 2-deep, left guard
I saw a very large man with #90 - Hunter on his Jersey on the sidelines of Friday night's game. He was standing next to Piazza and looked maybe 1 inch shorter but much broader. I assumed it was Ryan and that he must have been moved to the D-line since #90 is not an OL number (If that is still true).
Does anyone know who that might have been?

Re: Roster updates
We wondered about "#90" too. He was used as a blocker for one of the rushing TD's, yet there was NO # 90 listed in the program roster. Didn't see name on jersey as he was in middle of pile.

Re: Roster updates
Doesn't look like Ballew played, out of all the signees I figured he would be the most game ready to go right away and make difference this year in the defensive backfield. He is one of the most highly rated D players we've signed that I can recall and I understand wanting to redshirt him but I would have thought this staff's mentality would be to field the best team possible.

Re: Roster updates
I believe that is a "spare" number used for one of our offensive lineman who we use in the backfield in a JUMBO set. You can't wear a OL # and lineup in the backfield.Class of 61 wrote:We wondered about "#90" too. Re: Roster updates
Ok, it must have been Ryan Hunter. I read way too much into it thinking he had been moved to the D-line.

Couple more redshirts burned, Callaway at QB and Clinton Stephens at corner.

I think it was smart to get Calloway in there. I don't see any way Knapke takes every snap this season. Might as well give Calloway a few snaps.Siborg wrote:Couple more redshirts burned, Callaway at QB and Clinton Stephens at corner.

Re: Roster updates
Any word on what happened to Jamel Martin. We could sure use him with all the losses at RB. Houston out, Harrel and Levy Xfer, Greene hurt, Coppet hurt and Givens is a little banged up. English is available but I'd expect him to be used a little last night. Pohlman was a good tiny town HS running back but 2 fumbles in 2 games makes me a little worried using him. However, he made up for one fumble by stealing away Given's fumble from a Kent player last night.
Re: Roster updates
The last time we saw Martin on the field was in 2012. We've seen a bit of English this season and I hope we see him against Ball State for a few carries as prep for the conference title game. As for Pohlman, he's a great blocker. There have been several games (Indiana, Akron) where it seems every big run involves Pohlman blowing up someone on defense. And I like the idea of a big bodied runner, but in the future I hope he gets carries going into the end zone, not running away from it. He hasn't carried the ball much in his time here so I'd much rather not put all the pressure on him of giving him the ball in front of our own end zone. Now the idea of Pohlman carrying the ball for 3 yards and a cloud of dust and 6 points ... that would be pretty fun to watch.Siborg wrote:Any word on what happened to Jamel Martin. What has been the deal with MInns this year?
