Not me. No acknowledgment of how poor the defensive scheme was. Yes, tackling was a huge issue, but WKU receivers had 10-15 yards in front of them before defenders even entered the picture (in most cases). That was a designed scheme, and it allowed WKU to rack up huge passing yardage and a lot of points. BG never did seem to close that gap, even though it was clear that's where they were getting killed.

I'm afraid the defensive coordinator believes in playing a loose defense to protect against players getting burned long, and doesn't see how flawed it is to allow receivers so much space to maneuver after a catch. I guess we'll find out in the next game if this was something they put in just for WKU or whether it's a philosophy of coverage.

Nothing but words right now, we will see if the staff can walk the walk as much as they've talked the talk this year. Babers was adamant at the season ticket luncheon that it was going to be a special season and expectations of the staff and players were very high. Lots of gut checking will be going on this week during practice and hopefully the defense gets back to their in your face type of play we've seen the past few seasons.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know if the scheme was bad, but the impression one gets is that Babers does not think it was a problem. If he is wrong about that, this could be a long season.

I hope we can get more insights during his coaching show and during the week.

That post game reply did nothing for me. I've heard more disappointment from people coming out of a movie they didn't like at a movie theater than that. Now if you would've heard our post game replies following the game, now that would have had some people fired up!

Tons of hype to this season just about all killed in the first quarter of the season because your team was not ready to go on EITHER side of the ball. New system or not that is not excusable. BG looked like a high school defense trying to stop them. By far the worst defense I have ever seen at the collegiate level. This was a solid offense going against a solid defense, not Oregon vs Moorhead St.

I guess the good news when you come out of the gates looking like dog s**t is it really can't look worse.
