A different thread
Since we're all probably tired of reading what went wrong, what are some of the positives we saw from the game last night?
Re: A different thread
The offense was good. It took a while to get going but once they found their rhythm and got past the pregame jitters they were good. We have a solid offensive line that can keep up with the pace of the game, a very sharp QB, and the best set of running backs since PJ Pope and BJ Lane were in the backfield.

1. WKU had trouble running the ball on us (aside from a couple of horrific long yardage draw plays).
2. Our receivers look good.
3. This offense is shaping up to be as good as any in our conference.

This was a huge surprise to me. WKU seems to be known for their run game (not that they needed one last night).Schadenfreude wrote:1. WKU had trouble running the ball on us (aside from a couple of horrific long yardage draw plays).
The offense is going to be pretty good. I saw a ton of plays where receivers were wide open or behind coverages - all kinds of big play ability. Love the running backs, of course.
There was one play where Travis Green blew up that CB sometime in the third quarter made me happy to see.
I liked seeing Fred Coppet running well.
Roger Lewis was a good surprise too.

I echo this even though it didn't dawn on me until I was breaking down the box score this morning. We were able to jam the line and get penetration on the off chance the QB needed his second read (rare). With that said, the defense remains a huge concern for me after witnessing any and all fundamentals witnessed last year completely vacant from last night's game.Schadenfreude wrote:1. I hope this unit pulls it together and surprises me like last year's version but it will depend on the coaching.

Im glad we could stop the run. What's perplexing is that we were stopping the run and for some reason didn't change things up at all to try to stop the pass.Rightupinthere wrote:I echo this even though it didn't dawn on me until I was breaking down the box score this morning. That is what concerns me as well. I didn't see any defensive adjustments counter their passing attack.Globetrotter wrote:Im glad we could stop the run. We'll see how this team and it's coaches respond.
