Had heard before the game that he was playing through a leg injury. Don't know if the two are related.

Sucks for him. Not the season he was picturing I'm sure.

It happened on the last play Matt was in for late in the 4th quarter of the WKU game. He got sacked and it happened on that play. He was OK after the game but it started to bother him the next day. All night bus ride probably didn't help.

Damn, tough break. Between Knapke and Deiter, we'll be OK at QB but there's just no replacing Johnson's leadership and instincts. We'll have a week to break in whoever gets the start.

No the kind of news I wanted to hear ...

I'm okay with this series. WKU doesn't have great marquee value, but it is the other Bowling Green. Maybe we could make it a trophy game. (The Harbaugh Trophy?)

Yes. A cheap shot on the back of the leg of one of our linemen far away from the play at the end of the game when it was well out of reach. I can't recall his name, but it ended his season.

I certainly hope MJ will receive a medical redshirt for this year.

We did...the College football blog for the New York Times called it the "cheap shot of the year" thanks in part to a video I posted of it on youtube. IIRC, Brandon even emailed other coaches to warn them about cheap shots IIRC ...that lead to some bad blood

Re the QB situation...Knapke is a talented kid with a power arm. No way of knowing how quick he'll be able to pick up the slack, but the talent is there.
