This is a good article...

Did I overract? Probably. This helps people like me that tend to get, um, emotional too quickly.

Let's see what the next couple weeks brings.

I knew about the 700-plus yards we allowed, but 40 first downs?? I had to go back and look at the box score to see if that was a typo. Let's hope we never, ever, ever see a repeat of that again.

I'm not stepping off the ledge until BG shows me differently. I get the point of that article but there's nothing I'm going to read that someone else wrote that can erase what I saw. I'm not writing off the season over one non-conference game but our team is going to be the ones who make me a believer or non-believer, not a reporter's take. And that's not a dig on reporters either, I'm just saying the proof is in the pudding for me.

Yep.

Dino Baber's explanation seems to be that the defense just didn't show up. That seemed to be his emphasis again during Monday's coaches show. He said players seemed to understand things in practice that they weren't doing in the game. He did at one point say that they made all kinds of adjustments, but his emphasis seemed to be that players just didn't execute.

Babers is a likable guy. We will be fine on offense, and maybe even better. But I'm still panicky about the other side of the ball.

It may very well be that we have really untalented DBs and just didn't realize it last year, given the lightness of a MAC East schedule and our slower, time-of-possession offense. But I would like to see some evidence that Babers or his staff know what they are doing on defense. That was really difficult to watch Friday night. We looked helpless against the Hilltoppers in a way we haven't looked in quite a while.

With the Johnson news, I am afraid this season is going to be a complete washout.

Between a defense that probably isn't going to be even a shadow of what it was a year ago, and losing arguably your offensive MVP for the season, it's going to take one hell of a coaching job -- and one hell of a turnaround -- for this team to repeat as MAC champs.

Can it be done? Sure. But I'd say the odds are pretty long right now.

So sad to see a season that held so much promise appearing to disintegrate before our eyes.

This coaching staff will have to prove to me that they are able to turn this around before I'll believe it. The abomination I saw in the WKU game will never be forgotten. I'm surprised most of the fan base isn't suffering from PTSD right now.

Let me close by saying this: I hope I'm totally wrong, and the staff and the players find a way to live up to the hype of this season, even facing all this adversity.

Wow...when do you anticipate the arrival of the F5 tornado?

If that was the explanation i am seriously disappointed. That defensive scheme SUCKS. I saw little in terms of what mattered - corners back too far. It was a pitch and catch holiday. 40 first downs. COME ON COACH!
