Walsh Jesuit senior Blake Jenkins commits to Bowling Green for baseball

Walsh Jesuit senior baseball player Blake Jenkins has made a commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Bowling Green State University.

Jenkins, a center fielder and Hinckley resident, helped Walsh win North Coast League Blue Division championships in 2013 and 2014. The 2014 Walsh team compiled an undefeated regular season, was ranked No. 3 in the CBS MaxPreps Xcellent 50 national baseball rankings and then lost to Hudson in a Division I district final.

Jenkins earned the Most Valuable Player Award for the 2014 NCL season, and was also named first team All-Ohio and first-team All-Inland Northeast District. He compiled a batting average of .507 as a junior with six home runs and 37 runs batted in.

“Blake possesses such an abundant set of tools across the board and truly has a great deal of potential,” Walsh coach said Chris Kaczmar said. “He is just a superb athlete who not only gets the most out of himself on the field, but is also an extremely hard worker that is passionate about making improvements every day.
