Yes this deserves it's own thread! This defense flat out sucks!!! Against WKU it was terrible, against VMI it was bad but was overshadowed because VMI is bad, it was awful again vs Indiana but we were bailed out by our offense, but today, this is just comical. And save me the "Wisconsin is so good, Gordon is great" talk, FCS Western Illinois didn't look anywhere near as overmatched as we do to these guys. Teams in the MAC will eat us up with this kind of pathetic performances.

We allowed 644 yards rushing, and it could have been worse. A lot worse. Thank God Wisconsin had mercy on us. We allowed them to set school and Big Ten rushing records today meaning no one in the history of Wisconsin or the Big Ten played that bad on defense against the run. No one. Ever. The defense is only going to be as good as the offense under Babers, that much is clear. I don't agree with that philosophy one bit but it's obviously not going to change with this coaching staff. For some like me it's going to be a bitter pill to swallow.

To be fair to Babers, much has been said about our injuries, especially on def.

But Ronnie Moore didn't look 100% today, and we were missing Dieter. I mentioned my concern last week. Not saying it would've made a diff., but didn't help.

We have given up 700+ yards in two games already. We have also been blown out.....no, check that....destroyed - both times on the road. Babers said this is the best defense he's ever been around and also added that we need to be able to win away from home to be successful this year. Well, there's nothing to even say to follow that up.

Injuries yeah it hasn't helped. Fact is the defense was just as bad when they were all healthy against WKU.

If a play is anything but up the middle the defense can't contain it.

My comments basically alluded to our OFF. Injuries. Ronnie Moore caught ONE ball, Dieters was't even at the game due to last weeks knee injury. Two less weapons to work with don't help....and did Travis Greene get banged up too? Seems like he disappeared for last 2+ qtrs or so. He's usually pretty durable.

Wisconsin averaged nearly 10 yards per play. Wisconsin only had 8 third downs the entire game. I am not sure I would call what BG did today can be called defense at all.

Gaping holes, missed tackles, our players looked slow. I don't really have anything nice to say so I will stop now.

Acting like the defense wasn't good last year is crazy. It was an awesome defense.

The offense is a bigger concern to me....potential is there but I don't see it with Knapke under center.
