Away game tickets for season ticket package scrapped
Away game tickets for season ticket package scrapped
I got a message last week that I won't be receiving the away game tickets I selected for having BG season tickets. Something about how the MAC isn't honoring it anymore. I was disappointed because it seemed like a good idea and was an added bonus for being a season-ticket holder. Plus it helped put a few more visiting fans in the seats which, let's face it, is a good thing for most every MAC school as far as attendance is concerned.

I asked about this at the season ticket holder event a couple months ago. They said they couldn't get the other schools to agree to it, so they couldn't offer the tickets anymore.

At least you got a message. I never did and was planning on going to OU.BGSU33 wrote:I got a message last week that I won't be receiving the away game tickets I selected for having BG season tickets. This is just so dumb by the other schools... I'll bet what it comes down to is that no one wants to give away tickets to their "big" games (i.e. BG and UT, BG and OU). If they would just all set aside a set number of tickets for this kind of trade, it would benefit all the schools, I would think. But what do I know?

I got tickets for the Mass game with my season tickets. Guess I just picked the right one.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Though I THINK I paid for the WKU game early, the tickets sent to me said "complimentary"..... I'll have to double check on my credit card records to see if I indeed DID pay for them previously.

I also picked the Ohio game. I deleted the message I received but I didn't get the impression I could chose another game. It made it sounds like none of the other schools in the MAC were going to do it or something along those lines.bgsufn wrote:At least you got a message. The Toledo game was not part of the deal. Trust me, I checked. As for the Ohio/Akron/UMASS games, the extra tickets for those games got scrapped with the other teams in the MAC wouldn't agree to also do this stuff like we were. If you have tickets to UMASS as part of this, you may want to check and make sure they're actually valid tickets.

Surprised it wasn't axed sooner. While great for us fans, it was bad business for the schools. Think of all the lost ticket sales revenue from giving away tickets to visiting fans (while your own loyal fans pay full price).

And those same loyal fans will continue to buy season tickets because of this perk AND will go to away games representing your school and giving a fan presence that wouldn't normally be there. Oh, the horror!ZoombaFalcon wrote:Surprised it wasn't axed sooner. While great for us fans, it was bad business for the schools.
