It is being implied that our defense will bend but not break. Give up yards and rely on outscoring the other team. I would say that is poor. I am all for this type of offense. I like the offensive philosophy and want Babers to be successful but this is simply not working for us at this point. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. Without doing something different this season will result in a 500 team. I personally cannot get excited about the MAC season. We have played so poorly- even if we do manage to beat up teams in the MAC we are not even a top 50 team. This season has been disappointing to say the least...Flipper wrote:That's just it NO ONE IS SAYING WE HAVE TO PLAY POOR DEFENSE>>>WE'VE JUST PLAYED POOR DEFENSE>>IT ISN'T BY DESIGN.

The opposite could be said: if Babers doesn't stick with the current system then it will never be fully implemented. If Coach truly believes in what he is doing, which I believe to be the case, then he can not yield to the pressure of "potential" instant satisfaction.gspointer wrote:Without doing something different this season will result in a 500 team. I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

FalconTurf, I agree in what you are saying... As been said, the offense will be alright and Knapke will definitely get better as the year progresses. As for the Defense, it should not be judged so severely as there has been injuries. Another thing to look at, when new coaching staffs come and change the philosophy of a program, they may not have the right pieces to do what is expected in the system. Personnel fit right for Coach E's schemes and there was a bit of smoke and mirrors as to where the pressure was coming from. New style with bend don't break, keep everything in front of you and then make a play can put us in a disadvantage. Need inside pressure from front four and the back seven to swarm after the catch. Just my two cents...
