There's a lot to respect in your football program they've beaten or played some teams very well over the last couple of years. And even though I realize you do lose a lot at QB and DB which will probably play into OU's hands a bit with their strengths. It'll still be a battle Saturday.

OK fans...

Hey...thanks for all the respect to the OU fans...I think Bowling Green needs to be respected and not overlooked, because you guys have done a good job of creeping up on many power conference schools lately....I remember seeing that BGSU beat Purdue and then almost beat Ohio State...so you have earned all the respect we have given...

And as to Ohio State fans being arrogant....I hate them too....As someone who grew up around Cincinnati, I understand that they are very arrogant...I cannot and will not ever root for Ohio State....it is just not possible...

I have becosme somewhat of a MAC fan watching you guys give the big boys fits every fall. I am anticipatiing when the MAC will be a BCS conference. Those of you who go to NOrman will thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere--there is no place like it on game day. Your players, however, have demonstrated that they are not intimidated by their surroundings. The comments all week over here from your coach and players has been most impressive--respectful but confident. I would bet that we will NOT cover the spread. I would be happy with a win of any poportion. Best of luck to you the rest of the year. I hope you pay Miami back and take it to Marshall!

Sooner Fans

Post by The Big Red Dog »

I'm glad you guys have found these Sooner fans to be courteous and receptive to courtesy. I think that for the most part, this has always been the case, even before the nightmare that was the John Blake era when we had 3, 4, and 5 win seasons respectively.
When I first saw this year's scheduled I was a little surprised. Historically, OU likes to start with a cream puff team for obvious reasons.
1) A big win develops early season confidence. 2) To work on fundamentals without worrying about a win/lose situation. 3) To avoid playing our MVP's to much thereby lessening the chances of a costly injury...the list goes on. Bowling Green definately doesn't meet my criteria for a "creampuff".
I followed your team pretty closely last year. That kid from Alaska is especially exciting to watch (Magner if I recall correctly), though I hope he isn't that exciting saturday.
One thing in Oklhaoma's favor is Coach Stoops is pretty good at psycology. He is very good at prepping his teams for big games (barring the last 2 last year) but also good having his teams mentally prepared for games in which OU is a strong favorite. They don't normally give in to overlooking anyone.
Of course Harris graduated by I know that BG is bringing in allot of talent and experience. I've been telling other fans since last year to expect a close and competitive game. Some still don't beleive me but they will soon enough.
In conclusion I would like to say that this board appearance and format is one of the best I've ever seen. Thanks for the positive comments about our fan base. Nebraska and Alabama fans are some good ones too. Good luck this year.....Prediction-OU 31 BG 17

I'll second what Red Dog says -- y'all have a really great message board here. Good luck in the game and here's hoping for a hardfought contest with solid officiating and no serious injuries by either team. This will be a great experience for your new QB -- facing one of the top D's in the whole country who are coached by one of the top defensive coaching staffs. I wish more of you were coming - OU sent 5000 tickets up to BGSU and I understand that only 500 were purchased. I understand also that the Falcon marching band will not be making the trip but rest assured the Falcon fightsong will be played in the stadium - by the OU band. I will be here later on Sept 4 to review the game with you. May the best team win!

Hi all,
If anyone cares, I agree with all the complimentary comments about the Sooner fans. I was invited to one of their boards, and all they have done is be welcoming, friendly, and positive. They are some of the classiest fans I have run across. I am going to meet one of them at 9:00 Saturday morning for a tour of their campus. Talk about going out of their way to make us feel welcome. I was even invited to a rally with the Sooner fans on Friday night, but won't be able to attend that.
The only bad thing about the trip to Oklahoma is that it looks like it will be around 90 degrees, so I may have to carry my MCB jersey-those darn things are soooooo hot! I don't know how the players can wear those on a hot day, much less run around in them. If I keep that in mind, I guess I will realize that wearing it is nothing compared to what they go through.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I am asking a Sooner fan to tape the game for me. If I get it, I would be glad to let someone make copies if they want to. I would do it, but I don't know how.

My take is that no matter what, the Falcons can hold their heads high if they give this their best shot. OU is REAL football country!

I prefer to focus on making Bowling Green one of the best programs outside of the BCS. We are getting it done on the field, but in terms of a *program* we've got a lot of room for growth.

Schade, I COULDN'T agree with you more!!! I think we are on a good road to develop a program, but we need to be a perenial favorite year in and year out. We need a number of solid win years...Otherwise, lean seasons last 5-10 years rather than 1-2....
