Same thing happened last week with the CMU-UT game. I don't know the details of this but it seems sort of BS if you ask me.

BCSN had the rights to the Toledo game last week and has the BG game this week, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I'm actually surprised more home games aren't blacked out in Ohio. Thankfully the FCC's recently ruling will make these things old news.

There's ways to see the feed other than ESPN3...you just have to know where to look.

I plan to go in person but it it's annoying to see games listed on there then you can't watch them (for those who can't make it).

It's on ESPN Gameplan so you would pay for it but it would still be blacked out. As Flip said, there are ways around it. I did that last week to watch the Toledo game.

Google firstrowsports. I'd recommend having virus and malware protection.

The FCC's ruling will in no way change the blackouts.

The ONLY thing it did was put the onus back on the sports leagues themselves (as it should be). In the past they've been able to harp when fans complained, "But the FCC mandates these blackouts!" Now that's a bunch of bunk (and really always has been). The blackouts will still occur, but they will occur due to the contracts the sports leagues have with the networks. The NFL blackout rules will remain the same. Other sports leagues likely will as well, although MLB has talked about lifting their blackout rules entirely...it'd be nice if they did, as that's the thing that mostly keeps me tied to DirecTV.

If they are blacking out all of Ohio because BCSN has the rights, then that's just stupid. I could understand blacking out the portion of Ohio that's within the BCSN broadcast area, but to penalize the people that live in the far reaches of the state who can't make it in person and have no access to watching that network is terribly unfair.

Does anyone know if it will permanently be blacked out of ESPN3 beyond when the game is live or would we be able to watch it later on a re-broadcast?

I agree. That's my thought too.

It will be available for rebroadcast once the game is over.

I have a workaround for the blackout issue that has worked fine for me before. I'm not posting it here because I've seen it in the past few years where somebody publicly posted a workaround to ESPN3 problems and then the ESPN tech folks figure it out. So ... if you want a workaround to watch the game live, PM me.

I go to as many games as possible so I usually don't even pay attention to possible blackouts, but does anyone know if this blackout situation is a common occurrence on ESPN3? I don't remember ever coming across it or hearing about it for a BG football game before until now.

The only time I've seen "blackout" issues on ESPN3 is when the game is readily available on a standard ESPN network at the same time (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU etc.)
