Not a pleasant picture but I assume we all already knew this.

It's never gonna change.
Stopped at Fricker's in BG yesterday and saw a banner advertising an OSU logo Coors Light glass for $4 or something. $3 refills.
Irked me that they had the promotion advertised in the shadows of the Doyt but as I said, never gonna change.

Re: Fandom broken down by zipcode
Obviously we're primarily an OSU fan area, not surprised.
I do question their data though. There is no way in hell that 9% of the 43402 zip code is UT fans. Hell I cannot think for sure I've ever SEEN a UT fan in BG. Further I know that UM has been lousy of late while OSU has rolled them for awhile, but I grew up around here and I think it was a LOT closer to a 50/40 split in favor of OSU. That map is showing it like UM has almost no fanbase around here, and that's just not accurate.

I agree that there's inaccuracies on that map. I'm not buying that there are only enough UC Bearcat fans to register in Hamilton County alone and they don't even show up on the top 3 list in any surrounding county. Same thing over in PA. It shows Pitt as #1 in Allegheny County (with only 35%) and they trail Penn State in every single county that borders. Minnesota is hardly a powerhouse, but significantly more Wisconsin fans than Gopher fans in the county where the Gophers are located? I'm a little skeptical of this data.

Re: Fandom broken down by zipcode
According to this there are more UT fans in BG than BGSU fans? The SE Michigan numbers look way off as well in splitting the UM/OSU interest. In other words...I call bullshit.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Fandom broken down by zipcode
not very accurate, hamilton county uc did not even register by county or zip codes. yet uk and michigan did. uc and louisville football are more prevalent, of course well behind osu.

I don't care if BG ever shows up well on a map like this. If we could draw 20,000 avg to the Doyt, 4,000 to the Stroh and 4,000 to the Ice Arena in loyal fans I would be thrilled beyond words. That is a reasonable goal.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

I live in Michigan and have traveled the state extensively in my old job. That includes the dreaded Thumb area. Great for vacationing, bad for business travel. But I found it odd that the tip of the Thumb was split nearly even U of M and MSU. Makes sense. However, every zip code up there had the Florida Gators as third. Can't fathom why that would ever be.

Of the MAC programs, it looks like UMass is strongest in its area.
I'm glad the MAC gave UMass a try, even though it didn't work out.

As a Wisconsin native who attended Bowling Green, I always thought that the idea that Bowling Green Students cheer for Ohio State over Bowling Green was utterly ridiculous.

A lot of us feel that way. I cannot stand that...I hear all the time "I grew up in Ohio!" Yeah? So did Bo Schembechler and where did he end up coaching? I hate that effin excuse.ikenyon wrote:As a Wisconsin native who attended Bowling Green, I always thought that the idea that Bowling Green Students cheer for Ohio State over Bowling Green was utterly ridiculous.

The school you're a student/alma mater at should always take precedence over the most popular school in the state you were born in.Falconfreak90 wrote:A lot of us feel that way. Kids are always going to root for a winner and whomever their buddies are pulling for. Its the nature of the beast and every mid-major program has the same problem. I'll still never forget when BG students painted the rock on campus in scarlet and gray in 2006. One of the saddest moments I experienced as a student.ikenyon wrote:The school you're a student/alma mater at should always take precedence over the most popular school in the state you were born in.Falconfreak90 wrote:A lot of us feel that way. Two more years until we get a shot at O-state. A win there would be satisfying beyond words.
