Re: 4-2, 2-0 MAC
At this point I don't really care how BG wins games. I've given up on railing against the defense and have accepted for what it is. Each game is going to be an adventure until some guys get back or until the defense begins playing with more confidence. Clawson had problems winning these games so its nice to be able to pull them out. As freak said, its going to be a week by week season and hopefully the team hits their stride going into November.

[quote="BGSU33"]The taunting penalties the last two weeks are driving me crazy because they both came after big stops, then we turn around and just give them 15 yards and a fresh set of downs. First off, no one should be taunting anyone, period. That is why it is not allowed and you will get flagged for it. Second of all, this defense shouldn't be taunting anyone no matter what. After everything it has already gone through, the last thing anyone on it should be doing is taunting anyone when you actually make a good play. The one this week on Johnson was much worse and more deliberate
Funny you should say that, because I looked at the hi-lites on bgsu.com and, unless he was SAYING something, he appeared to get up after the hit, looked down and was backing off. Maybe it was the camera angle but didnt appear to be drastic.

This is where I am. Might as well enjoy it. No sense going on and on about the same crap.jpfalcon09 wrote:At this point I don't really care how BG wins games. We were sitting right by where the play happened. He made a helluva play and tackle and but when he stood back up, it appeared he bent over and said/yelled something. I knew a flag was coming before the ref even grab it and threw it. Was it weak? Probably. But we've gotta be better/smarter than that. The play is over, get back to the huddle for the next play. Celebrate it on the sidelines with your teammates if it led to a punt. Instead of 3rd and 12 it led to a 15 yards and first down and they scored a TD five plays later to take a 28-17 lead.Class of 61 wrote:BGSU33 wrote:The taunting penalties the last two weeks are driving me crazy because they both came after big stops, then we turn around and just give them 15 yards and a fresh set of downs. Re: 4-2, 2-0 MAC
It's funny how under Clawson we couldn't win the close ones (4-15), the ones vs Power Five teams (0-8) or bowl games (0-3). So far this season we're 3-0 in one-score games and 1-1 vs Power Five schools. I guess that means we're a lock to make a bowl - and actually win it.Flipper wrote:Well..at least we don't have all the complaints about how we can't win the close ones...all we do is win the close ones.

Pretty much everything is flip flopped. Some for the worse, some for better.

Nice to see people starting to point out the POSITIVES that we've seen so far under Babers.BGSU33 wrote:It's funny how under Clawson we couldn't win the close ones (4-15), the ones vs Power Five teams (0-8) or bowl games (0-3). I've got another one too: Once we start rolling a bit, THIS is the type of football that all kids want to play. I think you're going to bring in another class of recruit when you're playing up tempo FUN football.
The IU & Buffalo games have been two of the most fun games to watch at the Doyt in years.
Re: 4-2, 2-0 MAC
Absolutely hammb! This is an entertaining team and once this offense clicks on all cylinders, LOOK OUT! This offense just plain stresses defenses. We have so many play makers that when a team tries to shutdown one player as Buffalo did with Lewis Saturday it just opens up the opportunity for touches to other guys. Once they get Dieter back in there it will only add to the stress on defenses. When a team has as many offensive threats as we do it's nearly impossible for opposing defenses to stop that team. And then we couple that with a strong running attack. So in Athens on Saturday you can see the coaches keying in on Moore after watching the Buffalo film, but that leaves Lewis to run wild. And you have Burbrink who always slips open...what a nightmare! As wild as it's been, I'm enjoying the ride this year.

We still got room for improvement definitely but I will take where we are at this point. We need to be better and keep improving week to week to beat Akron and TSUN. I do think the D made a few baby steps Saturday, especially in the 2nd half. Gabe showed great senior leadership by making plays when we absolutely needed them with the pick and the 3rd & 1 stop. Johnson is going to pretty good @ corner. I still feel that PI and unsportsmanlike calls were ridiculous but whatever. The O is obviously playing great. UB was bracketing Lewis most of the game but we still have a great arsenal of weapons and Ronnie delivered with a huge performance.
