I like this move for a purely selfish reason. Miami and OU are much better drives from Lexington than the directional Michigans.

I wanted to stay in the West.

I see exchanging Miami for Northern Illinois as an almost even trade, and the Toledo game won't mean as much hereafter.

But what is done is done.

I think moving to the East is the right thing, but everyone has their own opinion and that is fine. I think that this is still a fluid situation. If Temple and Western KY join the MAC in a year or two, another reshuffling of divisions may be in order. Looking ahead, I would like to see Temple join the East, WKU in the West and have Toledo and Miami switch divisions then. Miami would be about the closest school to WKU so they should be in the same division, me thinks.

I just hope BG comes back to play in Western New York this season. That lose to UB in 2000 still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

So who voted against our going back to the East? Were those slackers from up north unhappy we were leaving while they were stuck as the only Ohio school not in the east?

Or was it a couple of members unhappy about losing a good money game with us?

The only downside I'm seeing is all of our BCS hopes. We all want to get to a BCS bowl and I know it's a long shot, but next year with wins over Wisconsin and Boise, and then NIU and Toledo at home, there was a decent shot we'd atleast end up in the top 10. Besides that, I'm rather glad to get back to traditions! When you are as good as BG, everyone considers you a rival because they all want to beat you badly. Sure what we had with NIU was fun but hey, we will see them every year in the MACC! :D

I don't care what side we are on, but i would like to stay there for good. I like playing Miami, Ohio, and Kent. I was jut getting used to the west, and now we are in the east again. I guess we will see how this is all going to play out come spring.

Throwing in my $.02, I liked the West. In addition to my earlier post about our disadvantage at playing Toledo every year as opposed to in a rotation, I do not believe we will draw any better for Kent and Akron than we do for Western Michigan and Central Michigan. Essentially, we have two categories of games.

Good:
Toledo
Miami
Big-name opponent
Championship Game
Perfect storm of weather, OSU schedule, etc.

Bad:
Everything else.[/b]

welcome back, guys. to me, this makes the east loaded from a football AND basketball perspective. let's face it, i think both akron and ohio are going to get better in football, and adding you guys for basketball makes the east crazy with kent, akron, buffalo, ohio, miami and bg. THAT has me excited.

good luck next season. i'm hoping we get you guys in oxford to replace the marshall game that would have been a home game for us this season.

Maybe we won't draw more, but this is where the marketing comes in. How about selling the NE OH alums a 2-ticket package depending on whether we are at Kent or Akron? Buy a Kent/Akron ticket and get one ticket to the Doyt at a reduced price, or something like that.

We're better now than we were, and having a game close by might re-kindle some interest.

I'm elated we are back in the east.

This is an honest question...Where in the hell did BG get the rep of not having any trees??? I heard this when I was at BG, so thechuck's posting is not totally out of left field. There are trees all over. :?:
Surprised no one has mentioned that the highest point in Wood County above sea level is the hill on the golf course. The second highest spot, can anyone guess it?

Perhaps. You might well be right. I don't think you'll ever see a ton of people making the trip to BG from Cleveland for our home football games, and I don't think its because of how much they cost, but maybe I'm wrong.

And having a game close by might re-kindle some interest. Fair enough.
