Kickoff for WMU set

Post by hammb »

http://bgsufalcons.com/news/2014/10/6/F ... 41622.aspx

Didn't see this posted anywhere, but the kickoff time for the WMU game has been set at the oh so annoying 2 PM. Joy of joys. That cements it. Not one single game with an all day Saturday tailgate. I'm immediately reminded at why I stopped getting season tickets. SO flipping annoying.

I swear if the only reason we're going to use our lights is for the asinine weeknight games in November I wish we'd just tear the damned things down. How can we go an entire season without having a single Saturday evening game so we can get out there and tailgate all day, cook something good that might take awhile on the smoker, etc!?

God I hate the MAC sometimes. ESPN the Ocho must have had a prior commitment in the evening that night.

I thought they announced at the Buffalo game that WMU was going to start at noon.

Saturday, October 18 is Preview Day at the university (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM).

Could have been scheduled at 2:00 PM so prospective students and their families can visit the campus in the morning, then stay for a football game, and get back home in the early evening.

You want them to attend games when they're students? Here's the chance to get them excited about THEIR team before they enroll.

We could complain about any kickoff time for various reasons.

I like the kickoffs in the 2-4pm range. Late evening games are great, I agree, but difficult for those travelling out of town or with kids.

Just be happy it isn't at NOON :-)

Yeah, could be noon, I suppose.

I just miss the days when we could tailgate for at least ONE game starting at 10-11 and make a whole day of it. I hate the early start times.

At least now the games are worth watching so tailgating isn't the only redeeming quality of the day, but I don't like having to get out there at 6 AM to have a good long tailgate. And no way the wife will join me at that hour.

Could be worse with a home game this weekend while students on fall break. It would be great to have one night home game a year just to mix things up a little.

You're in luck! November 12 v. Kent State is your home night game this year.

He probably meant an evening game that people could actually attend.

I remember reading when the start time for Toledo was announced last year that schools can decide start times on their own for games showing on ESPN3 and not cable. That would make 2 pm BG's call.

I have zero problems with 2:00, as long as we're voting.

That's my favorite time, too, Brian. I love hanging out all day in the lot before the game. That said, 2 p.m. is better than noon, which is my least favorite kickoff time.

Brian,

I get what you're saying re: long tailgate ( can you say fishfry?)... But for those of us who have to travel 2+hrs or so, the 2pm starts are about the best. After stopping for something to eat last week, dropping off my 2 friends, it was still about 11:30 before I walked into my house. The 3:30 games are even worse. Either get home around 1:30-45 or get a hotel room. I love Falcon football, but still want a home life too.
