What's your opinion of the dynamic duo of Savage/Crennel? Think they will be able to the the Browns in gear? Any possibility of an Urban Meyer at BG turn around in one season?

It's not likely unless they have an unbelievable draft.
THere are rumors that they're going let Garcia go.. and try to draft a QB like Alex Smith.. or what's his face from Cal.
Both would be bad.. IMO.. the quarterback crop this year is no where near what it's going to be next year.. where the Browns (if they have a horrible year next season) coule potentially grab a franchise quarterback like.. oh.. I don't know.. OMAR JACOBS

JOSH HARRIS!!!!!!!

Good point Bleeding, but rumors have it that Josh isn't likely to stick around for next season and was just filling a void on the roster caused by injuries... I for one, hope that's not true for Josh's sake..

Well, for the sake of my relationship with the Browns as a fan (and with the whole damn NFL, for that matter), they had better keep Josh and give him a shot. I have been a Browns fan for all of my life, but I just can't take it anymore. For me, Josh's addition to the roster is the only truly positive thing I've witnessed in that organization since they left in whatever year in the 1990's it was. I'm to the point where if they cut him (which I think would be a HUGE mistake (because he has the best potential of any quarterback making the league minimum right now)), I'm done with them. I can't support an organization that continues to make decisions to turn a profit based on fan loyalty and then does nothing to return a quality product to the field. Done.

I know that probably sounds callous and immature, but I'm pretty much fed up with all of the NFL. I can't watch it on TV anymore because I just get angry and the all too frequent, and all too long commercial breaks. Plus, I really don't find the competition to be all that meaningful. I feel the same way about the NBA, too. I've never gotten that feeling from MLB or the NHL, even with all of their labor disputes.

So, if Josh is gone, bottom line is that all the Browns will ever be to me in the future is a reason to say: "Hey, you know where they got their colors, don't you?"

That's not really what being a fan is all about is it?
IT's about the ups and the downs.. and sure, the downs outweight the ups by far in recent Browns history.. but as another life-long Brownie.. I must say that I could never give up on my team even if they did get rid of Josh.
Sure.. it's not the right thing to do given their current quarterback situation.. but I can't give up on an organization I've loved since I was three years old just over a personell move.
That said.. they should keep Josh and at least give him a shot.

I hear ya windycity, but I suppose my easy ability to give up on the Browns, as I tried to allude to, has not so much to do with my loyalty to sports teams, but with my growing disdain for the league that they are a part of. Having a hard time caring about the league all-together makes it that much harder for me to care about one of the worst franchises in that league, no matter how long I've been a fan of it.

What it really boils down to, for me, is commercialism. I can't watch commercials during NFL games and help but think about all of the working class folks who spend so much of their hard-earned money only to become a market for Vitalis, Budweiser (insert your favorite corporation here). I know that sounds very left-wing, and I hate sounding that way, but its just the feeling I get from the whole thing.

But, I'm getting totally off-topic for the board here, and I'm sure there is someone out there about ready to flame me for not talking about BG. So, I will close by wishing the best of luck to Josh Harris. Here's to hoping he's starting in '05 wereing no. 5 -- for the Browns!

remember phil savage drafted harris in baltimore, so i think there's a fairly good shot of him sticking around. i think the browns will have harris around for at least training camp and give him a shot to stick as the 3rd QB.

I was a DIE HARD Browns fan since 1975 when I was 7. Up until 1995. When the No Franchise Loyalty league let that ass move the team, I kissed the NFL goodbye. I bought BGSU season tix the next season and haven't looked back since. I lived thru the sorry 70's, the Kardiac Kids, the Drive, The Fumble, And the move....I will never go back to the NFL.

I'm hoping he gets bumped up to 2nd. I seriously doubt Garcia will be in Cleveland for another season. Its time for them to cut their losses. And while Holcomb is my boy, this past season wasn't exactly an exhibition of his finest abilities. My guess is he leaves too; whether he is traded or leaves as a free agent remains to be seen. So that leaves Harris... And whomever they can manage to get. I'd bet [read: hope] they'd keep Harris at for the fact that he was on the team last year, even if for a game on the bench. He'll have had the chance the throw with the team during all of training camp. But we'll see.

If you didn't hear the press conf. with Crennel, (and I only listened because I was driving and WKNR was on), when he was asked about the Browns' QB situation, he responded something to the effect, " we have 3 QB's, a veteran (read Garcia), A young, experienced one(read Holcomb), and a young one (read McCown)..." I wasn't too happy with those comments because at NO time was Josh mentioned as a possible candidate for the QB job... I'm afraid the move from Balt to Cleve. might NOT work out in his best interests, but frankly, beyond Josh's being here, and the fact that I'll still watch the Browns because they're "Cleve.'s team", the NFL in general bores the heck out of me... Too much hype, too much advertising etc.

Give me a good college game ANY DAY....over the NFL...more excitement, more "color", entertaining band shows etc. at halftime...in short, a much better fan experience.

Absolutely, Denny. I watch the Lions only and only out of force of habit. I listened to them on the radio before they hit TV. Their last championship was 1957 when they beat the Browns. As a matter of fact, the Browns were the class of the NFL through most of those years. Times have changed.

). When they cut Kosar, that was the first move that I started to get less interested in the team. From there, the losses weren't nearly as bad and I cared less every year after. The Move was the final nail in the coffin.
