This team just isn't that good. Western is mediocre but they were less mediocre than us today. The defense played well enough that we should have had a chance to win, but the offense just faltered. Injuries certainly had an impact, but you have to have enough other guys that can step it up and put some points on the board, especially against a defense like they were facing today. We simply can't run the ball when we need to and that kills us. It will always kill us in this style of offense, especially as the weather continues to worsen as we get later in the season and throwing becomes more difficult.

Zips just turned it over deep in their end, so Ohio might pull that one out. Even so, I don't see us winning at the dump up north or at CrAkron, going into those places with a lack of a running game and lack of a shutdown defense, so our chances of winning the East look incredibly dim.

Akron just lost to OU, 23-20. That help. Zippies are at Ball St next week.

Can we get an "our QB sucks" exemption from the NCAA so Nicholas can play now?

WMU isn't that much of a mediocre team. They are a much younger team than BG and is a program which will likely compete for the west division championship within the next two years (barring any row boats).

If ever there was any debate over who the MAC Freshmsn of the Year was going to be between Franklin and Lewis, Franklin just signed, sealed, and delivered that honor. He is a grown-ass man.

What was most concerning to me today was the inability of the offense to do anything after that opening drive. We had one other drive where we obviously scored points but other than that, the rest of the game it was a complete disaster. Way too many three and outs. We ran the hell out of screens that we have been showing teams the last few weeks (and WMU was clearly ready for it), we had no vertical attack, and our running game was missing in action.

I'm not too upset about this loss. I knew there was going to be a game this year in conference play that either BG would struggle in or get outplayed. Good news is the Akron loss makes it a wash and so hopefully the players don't dwell on it. However, you have two weeks to get things straightened out for arguably the biggest game of the season. It's up to the coaching staff to have everything moving in the same direction by November 1.

I said a couple weeks ago this team would be embarrassed in a bowl if they got a bid. Someone respond "IF?" as if we should be in one. No way this team deserves a Bowl bid. Sorry but we are not worthy -PERIOD END OF DISCUSSION. We are a mediocre team in a poor conference. There MAC is way down this year. We were at the top of the conference last year and got manhandled by a 500 team from the ACC. We are not even close to that caliber a team.

That was me with the "if." You had raised the possibility that Bowling Green would not play in a bowl game this year, and I thought that was a really silly thing to say. Of course the Falcons are going to play in a bowl game. And I'll be glad for the chance to watch them one more time.

Bowl games mean squat anyways, even more so now with realignment. The best BG can do is beat another team from a G5 conference. All the goals of the team are still attainable and that's all that matters.

Calm down Francis...the MAC has enough bowl tie ins that we could probably go 7-5 and still go bowling. As shaky as we've been the past two weeks on offense, we'll still take Kent and BSU. Bowl games are not meaningless...they're a selling point to recruits and they allow you get more practice time in.

Find it very odd that the offense is backsliding . They didn't work with Knapke much (inexcuable in my mind) in the fall, so you figure he'd get better as the season wore on...instead, he's getting worse.

Not a shock, more film to watch to pick on tendencies and flaws. WMU dared him to beat them today but blitzing every down and forcing him to be accurate and quick in his decision making. They had a great game plan. Couple that with taking away Roger Lewis as a threat and you've really limited options to be successful. He's an average quarterback running a system not suited for him and the results are starting to mirror that.
