It's gonna come down to 11/4 @Akron. Good ol-fashioned Tuesday night MACtion. It's gonna be weird with two bye weeks in a row but it's great that it is between today's game and Akron.

Easiest road?

BGSU goes minimum of 3-2 to finish 6-2 in the conference, including a win at Akron.

Akron loses one other game.

Miami loses once more.

That should finish the job.

Welp.. WIN on 11/4 @ Akron and BG will be 1 game away from clinching the MAC East. (A WIN will put BG at 6-3 overall & 4-1 in conference play)...

After that, barring a worst case scenario (Losing 3 straight to end the season), we are a lock.. Any other win after that would seal the deal for us.

If we beat Akron, we'll be in good shape to return to Detroit. But if we lose to Akron with Toledo still on our schedule, we could find ourselves in a very tough spot. Last year's team showed how you do it after a loss (when they lost to Toledo), they just flat out won after that and took care of their own business.

Even though we are a game up on Akron right now, I think we have to beat them on Tuesday if we are going to win the East. A loss will put us even with them in the standings, but with them holding the tie break, we would actually be a game back of them and need to make one up.

Our remaining schedule includes Turdledo and a suddenly re-awakened Ball State, while Akron's final opponents are Kent, Buffalo and Massachusettes. The likelihood of us gaining a game on them after our head to head matchup, given those schedules, is slim, at best. As I said back when the schedules were released, the game on 11/4 is likely the championship game for the East.

I agree. If we lose to Akron it will likely come back to haunt us, probably in the form of a tie-breaker situation.
