OK.... Checked stats... 1-1 after 1st period... Looks like we'd better stay out of box.

Well obviously not a very good game.....tomorrow will show me a lot about this team. Are we contenders or are we just going to be middle of the pack. We lost a ton of faceoffs.....which shows Mankato wanted it more tonight.

I wasn't worried about penalties, heck we only had two in the game. They were 1- 2 on PP. Number of shots, and time of possession in offensive zone are of concern and I'm sure the coaches on all over this as all. Playing defense when its 5 on 5 likes it's a penalty kill doesn't loom well. Only 19 shots offensively means we aren't getting rebounds from shots from the point and we are getting one shot and done.

Miami may not be that good and we all know what Huntsville's like, this is wake up call weekend.

They were noticeably faster, especially through the neutral zone. They did a great job of disrupting our break-out, and maintained control of the puck for huge periods of time.

We'll need to make some adjustments for Saturday.
Tomorrow is gut-check night. We're either contenders or pretenders.

Effort level seemed way down tonight. No idea why. Also the coaches seem to love Sholl, but I haven't been impressed by him so far at BG. I know they didn't play great in front of him tonight, and he didn't give up a bad goal that I saw but these are big games going down the line, its time to step it up.

Their game was so sloppy and effortless in the second period that the other two didn't even matter. This team has the talent to go places, but they never seem to play consistently.

The last goal went through him. Yes, it was a quick one-timer. But he was in position and had a good view of it.

Mankato simply out-everythinged us tonight. The short amount of time we started to throw some bodies around, the puck ended up in their net. Spezia had a hell of a game. Outside him, nobody really stood out.

The second period blues are pretty baffling. If they can't find a more consistent effort it's going to make for a lot of rough games. Kinda hoping to see Nell in goal tonight, haven't watched him play yet, although Burke might give a better shot at a W.

Coach Bergeron addressed some of the issues mentioned above in his post game presser. He was not a happy man, as you would expect, given how we played.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
