I think these two deserve their own thread with how well they played last night. Johnson had two crucial and nearly a third interception, and he also was in on a lot of broken up passes. Pohlman stepped up in a big way to carry the ball. I don't blame him for fumbling a wet ball as he's not used to carrying and I applaud him for stepping up for his team. Also, it seemed with every big run, Pohlman had a huge block to open up a hole.
A well deserved congratulations to these two in stepping up in a huge way to help win the game.

Clint Stephens played a good game as well, had a pick, couple pass breakups and a nice kick return. Great to see some of the freshman corners gaining some confidence.

Re: Nick Johnson and Chris Pohlman
All three mentioned above had great games. Johnson and Stephens were two corners that frustrated us all to begin with because of the 10 yard cushions they were giving. With some experience, they're now doing pretty darn well. Pohlman...that was fun watching him run the ball and move the pile. I think he's our short yardage back we were looking for to replace Houston, not Givens.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Nick Johnson and Chris Pohlman
Johnson/Stephens are gonna be an incredible duo. Johnson, in particular, was matched up with L.T. Smith who's one of the best WRs in the league (along with Rog and Sharpe from Mass) and held him down pretty well. All in all, I'm a really happy fan today, not just for these three but the whole team as well. Roll Along!

Absolutely. Nick Johnson is from Canton Timken HS and had a lot of followers there last night. Team is growing up and realizing how they need to play for 60 every game. Freakin proud of this team's efforts.

Nick's father last night said he should be playing WR, can't say I fault him with the hands he showed last night.Falconfreak90 wrote:Absolutely. The kids are growing up. Johnson was unreal last night. Not just the ints, one of which was a gift, but had great coverage all night long.
Most notably to me is the secondary breaking on the ball much quicker when they are granting that cushion. No more sitting back and letting the receivers come to them after making the catch. Contrary to popular belief you have to back off coverage from time to time, lately they've been able to still make stops for short gains in those situations.
