BG V Wright St

Post by Globetrotter »

BG Takes on Wright State in the weirdest scheduled game extravaganza at 4 pm on a Wednesday.

WSU is 2-0 with a 3 pt win over Belmont to start the season and a big win over lowly Ohio Dominican.

Wright St looks like they run a 3 guard one F one C lineup.
G Hopkins (20) 6-2 Sr 23ppg 6rpg
G Arcenaux (3) 5-9 Sr 16.5ppg 3apg
G Thomason (32) 6-4 Jr 10.5ppg 7.5rpg
F Davis (0) 6-7 So 5ppg 4.5 rpg
C Karena (14) 6-10 Jr 10ppg New Zealand
Bench
G Benzinger (13) 6-3 Fr 5ppg
G Griffin (15) 6-4 Sr 7ppg
F Davis (35) 6-8 Fr 2rpg

“We are looking forward to the home opener. Obviously it is an odd tip time with the 4 p.m.
matinée if you will. We were trying to be team players and piggy back off the excitement of
the rivalry game the football team has with the school up north at 8 p.m.”
“Wright State is coming in here 2-0. They had a huge home opening win against Belmont,
which is a very good college basketball program, a respected program. They are established,
their culture is established. They play very, very hard. They’re tough, scrappy and really push
the ball. I anticipate the game to be an up tempo game because we are not afraid to run as
well. It should be a fun game for the fans to watch in that both teams are trying to play fast
and get the ball out of the net and off the backboard and trying to score fairly early if the
opportunities present themselves. On the other end, they’re very sound and well taught
defensively. They’re really going to get after the ball and they have great rotations and really,
really play very hard. We are going to have to match their intensity for sure.”

First time I've been excited to watch an opener and watch a season in forever. An Orr-less lead basketball team is WAY overdue!

Do they think many people will go to the football game after the basketball game. I understand moving the time to 4pm but I think it would been better to schedule the game at 5:30 and then let everyone stick around and watch the football game inside the Stroh. Could have a 50/50 raffle, games at halftime. Leave the concession stands open. That makes more sense to me, especially since it's a road game. Keep the revenue in house and not let it go up to Toledo.

Speaking of Orr...I was thinking...does he still live in BG? And if so, will he be in the Stroh watching Chauncey?

Ended up paying to watch it. Look pretty good so far. Playing ten guys. Interesting that Orr starts then hasn't played at all despite getting 4 pts. I didn't see that part. Any reason why?

Austin playing way more than Joseph.

Ladies & Gentleman, we have a competitive team once again. So nice to see the bench contribute. The team is in sync and running an offense. Nice to see a more up tempo game. Awesome start to the season.

Nice Win 70-55. Appears we wore Wright State down and took control. Can't wait to see the team play in person.

Based on the stats, it appears Denny, Holmes, and Parker were on the floor the most together. Denny scored 18 points on 6 of 9 shooting and had a +24 efficiency. How is he being used? Catch and shoot off of a set play? Or, is he more of a creator.

Good job Falcons

Ended up paying for the monthly pass. I hope I don't regret it.

Team looks great. Very well balanced. Very aggressive.
Some interesting notes.
1. Denney is exciting to watch, always active he is a real player. 18pts, 7rebounds, 2 steals
2. Richaun Holmes 5 blocks again. 8 rebounds 9 pts.
3. Spencer Parker 14pts 6 rebounds 3 steals
4. The Joseph and Austin rotation seems interesting. I think they like Joseph more because he is steadier so he will start and play the end of the game. Austin played the middle portion. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
5. Orr started both halves but tallied only 8 minutes. I think we will see him play a lot in games where the squad is out of control to steady things.
6. This team is loaded at guard.....teams that are loaded at guard often press. That should be fun.
7. It will be fascinating to see how the rotations are divvied up this year. There are 9 guys on the team if they started I could easily say "That lineup makes sense here".
8. Tisdale with 1 minute again. I kind of wish they would have redshirted him but I am sure injuries here and there will lead to more time.
