WHY WAS THE CLOCK RUNNING????
Not that this controlled the outcome but can someone explain this. 2:55 left in the game. 2nd and 8 for Toledo. BG had just called a time out. Toledo runs the ball but the play doesn't count because of a holding call. 2:47 remaining. WHY does the clock run after the penalty??? The clock should not run since the play before started after a time out. The clock was then able to run for another 25 seconds. Clock should not been running.
If that's the case why not jump offsides continuously when the defense is out of time outs to drain the clock. Sure would been nice to have those extra 25 seconds for that final drive.
WHY WAS THE CLOCK RUNNING?????
Re: WHY WAS THE CLOCK RUNNING?????
Why didn't anyone else catch this. I thought this was the rule. BG coaching staff should have been all over this.
During the normal course of a game, when the clock is running and there is a penalty, the game clock will restart on the referee's signal after enforcement of the penalty. "However, inside five minutes left in the game, rule 3-4-3 should apply, which includes starting the game clock on the snap 'if the foul is by the team ahead in the score.'
"After the Toledo holding penalty late in the game, the referee started the clock on his signal rather than on the snap."
Way to get referee's and way to go coaching staff for not noticing.

Re: WHY WAS THE CLOCK RUNNING?????
I'm not sure but I believe it was because he actually gained yards on the play. The hold took place past the line of scrimmage so it was a spot foul. I think the clock would stop if the hold was behind the line.

Also, the runner went out of bounds at the end of the play (or there was a really quick forward progress whistle).
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."
