Beavers
Re: Beavers
Worst first period of play I've seen all year. Second and third were good, though.

So, what you're saying is that the guys pulled it out against the Beavers.pdt1081 wrote:Slow start, but great to pull out a 3-1 win!

I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Actually, I'm saying the guys really stuck it to the beavers over the last two periods.......rood wrote:So, what you're saying is that the guys pulled it out against the Beavers.pdt1081 wrote:Slow start, but great to pull out a 3-1 win!

Re: Beavers
So what the heck happened tonight. Couldn't make it to the game due to my truck breaking down on the way home from last nights game.
Followed on Twitter and every update was a penalty. Was it a super chippy/dirty game or were the refs out of their minds?
Glad the guys got a sweep at home tho. Up to #6 in pairwise when I checked tonight.

Re: Beavers
4869 total attendance for the weekend. AFTER a Friday night in which the single game record was break at 5303.
It's sad to see so many fair weather fans that only come to games when we play big name teams like Indiana at home in Football or Ohio State home in Hockey. You got a football team that's paying in the MAC title game and going to another bowl. As well a hockey team that is climbing in the national polls and potentially could play in the NCAA tournament this year. Stop Watching games at home or driving to Columbus, Ann Arbor or South Bend to support teams on the weekends that you never got a degree from. Be proud of the school you attend and support them because before you know it as a student it will be over and you'll say "I wish I went to more games".
GO FALCONS!

Don't even go there Unfalconbelieveable. It's a lost cause. People will support the team as they will. Let's just enjoy the way the team is playing. No need to call people 'fair weather fans'.

I'm a graduate student in Ann Arbor, and I drive to BG for home hockey games. The difference in attendance is the student turnout. Student attendance for OSU was over 3K, tonight it was more like 900. Gotta get the non-Bleacher Creatures to keep coming back!

Re: Beavers
Where'd you get that 3K figure? I asked somebody else about that last week, and the answer was, "not sure where it came from, heard it via social media." (and we all know that social media makes it true, lol.)jg4242 wrote:I'm a graduate student in Ann Arbor, and I drive to BG for home hockey games. The difference in attendance is the student turnout. from where I sat, the OSU game pulled in more folks across the board, not just students. plenty of OSU fans, and heavy traffic from off-campus (not students).
I counted 6 (+/-) Beaver fans at this week's games.
The difference is that new WCHA opponents don't excite the casual fans. most people don't even know where Bemidji is, much less care about the rivalry.
games vs. Ohio/Michigan teams are always gonna draw better, no big surprise.

Re: Beavers
So getting back to the game...I thought we played well, except for that second period. But i think we know who are 2 goalies are from here on out. Also, can a linesman call penalties? Because I'd rather him call the penalty on Berkle during the play, than waiting a minute after hit to call the penalty....when we possibly could have scored and they would have taken it away most likely.
Also! Did they remove the rule that if your team is offsides and you shoot it at the net, the play is stopped and deemed offsides automatically? Because we did that a few times...and what would have happened if we were to get a lucky bounce and it go in?

Re: Beavers
In regards to a linesman calling a penalty, he has to wait until play stops to make the call. He followed the rules correctly. It was more of a height differential than a flagrant foul, however.
I have no idea about the off sides but I imagine that any goal would be waved off.

Re: Beavers
3000 students at the OSU game is correct, btw, based on someone we know who works the games. They do track student attendance.
Given that this was Bemidji, I thought that attendance at these games was pretty good. In the past we would have been lucky to have 1500 in attendance for an unknown opponent like this.
