Bowl game waiting
Re: Bowl game waiting
It has been a decade since our last bowl win......a DECADE.....and that's 9 years too long since our last one! I don't care who or where we play this year, we just need to win! We've lost our last four bowl games and we've lost our last three games in a row. We're in no position to be picky or complain about opponents or matchups. I think this is our best shot at a win of any of the MAC bowls. We just need to get a win, end the season with a victory for once and enjoy it during the offseason.
GO BG!!!

Re: Bowl game waiting
I want to get excited for this game, but I just can't. Both these teams are limping into this game on losing streaks, BG is playing terrible football and USA might be the worst team in the nation to get a bowl bid. Yeah, it would be nice to win but I honestly don't see this game doing much to help recruiting. The extra ten days of practice will be beneficial (hopefully) and the seniors get another game, but outside of that I don't really find anything intriguing about this game. Seems like the MAC knew the only chance BG had to win was to play against a similarly mediocre team.

Wow! Hard to believe it has been that long. Couldn't agree more with your comments. Really don't want the taste of the last 3 games to linger all winter, spring and summer. Made the trip in 2004, but don't think we can swing it this time to Alabama.BGSU33 wrote:It has been a decade since our last bowl win......a DECADE.....and that's 9 years too long since our last one! Out of curiosity, I went and looked at the last 10 years. Some interesting numbers.MajorFalcon92 wrote:Wow! Hard to believe it has been that long. Couldn't agree more with your comments. Re: Bowl game waiting
Not that this makes the resume any greater but I believe we have division co-championship in there as well, 2008 maybe?
all bowling green
Re: Bowl game waiting
You're right, the 2007 team was co-East champs.I was fairly surprised the numbers were as good as they were.Dayons_Den wrote:Not that this makes the resume any greater but I believe we have division co-championship in there as well, 2008 maybe?
Also interesting. BG is 1-8 (2003) since 2002 vs Toledo teams with a .500 record or better. 2-9 if you go back to 2000 (2001 & 2003 are the only wins).
Re: Bowl game waiting
East division co-champs in 2005 too. That was the time when every damn thing worked to give Akron the east title. And they've had 0 winning season since.

Yeah, their situation seems like a lesson to not get huffy about going to a bowl--any bowl, given how quickly it can slip.MarkL wrote:East division co-champs in 2005 too. That was the time when every damn thing worked to give Akron the east title. And they've had 0 winning season since.

3-7 vs Toledo. 2007 - 2009 were all wins.

We also have a home-and-home scheduled with USA in 2021 and 2022.zete wrote:Didn't realize S Alabama had a football program.

Re: Bowl game waiting
USA has nearly sold out of its allotment of tickets for the game already. I'm sure they'll be getting additional tickets to sell.

Re: Bowl game waiting
They can have some of ours. We'll be hard pressed to get anywhere near our allotment sold for this game with the travel distance and the recent general feelings regarding our program. I know I personally will watch the game on TV, but that's it.

Re: Bowl game waiting
If BG loses we all know what the excuse will be. Played a program in their first ever bowl, we were the road team, blah blah blah.
