2015 Season Opener Announced
Re: 2015 Season Opener Announced
Does anyone know why this game isn't being played in Neyland Stadium?
GO BG!!!
Re: 2015 Season Opener Announced
I know, like most of you, next season's schedule win bring in lots of much needed cash. What I do not like about it is a good possibility of going 0-4, then winning the MAC East, and entering the championship game with the same so so feeling I had this year.

Getting only 5 home games next year is a major disappointment in the wake of this news.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: 2015 Season Opener Announced
Meh. Home schedule that has Memphis, Ohio, Toledo, Akron, and a TBA MAC team is better than this years. Thursday or even Saturday on Labor Day weekend against S. Carolina State doesn't get me all that fired up.jpfalcon09 wrote:Getting only 5 home games next year is a major disappointment in the wake of this news.
The game would have been Thursday night because of Labor Day. I'm sure the Toledo and either Akron or Ohio games will be weeknight MACtion games. I like the schedule.

Main reason? Show Vanderbilt who owns the state. Reasons the Volunteers will give....play in an NFL stadium, let fans who don't normally get to see Tennessee football experience it, good for recruiting.BGSU33 wrote:Does anyone know why this game isn't being played in Neyland Stadium?
It would be cool to play in Neyland, but, Nashville is a world class city. Should be a fun trip.
Tennessee fans reactions - Really complimentary towards BG.

Re: 2015 Season Opener Announced
We lost a home game against an obscure program in exchange for 1.2 million and a chance to make some early noise....that's a trade i'll make every time.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: 2015 Season Opener Announced
Like 33 I would be much more excited to play at Neyland stadium. If we're going get pounded I would like to at least get the real game day experience. Yes they are 6-6 this year but they also played Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Georgia etc. They have been down for awhile but are real close to turning a corner. Maybe if I didn't watch the last half of this season I wouldn't feel so bad about it. Regardless I'll be in Nashville hoping for the best.
Re: 2015 Season Opener Announced
Like others I'd much rather play in Neyland...not sure I'll make a trip to Nashville for the game, but would love to see us play in Neyland.
Either way I love the game. Besides being a payday game (something that we simply MUST take on at least 1 every year), Tennessee is exactly the type of power conference school I'd like to see us play more of. They're not terrible, and they're not the dregs of the power5, but at the same time they're not good and they're beatable.
Great game, now let's hope Babers and company rock the offseason and get us ready to play. We've got a tough OOC schedule and I'm hopeful that if the team takes the next step we can make some noise in that schedule.

Also, Matt got off his crutches today and it sounds like he has every intention of battling back and returning next year.
That's the best news this program has had in a while.

What, you weren't stoked for a bowl game in lovely Montgomery? I did learn something out of this. Apparently the camellia is our state flower.Beaker wrote:

Tennessee was already scheduled to play UAB at LP Stadium. So they kept that committment and switched the opponent.

Usually, I'm pumped up anytime a BG team is taking the field, especially in a bowl game. Like many others, I'm having a tough time getting this one very high on the pumped meter right now. That has nothing to do with where we're playing, I'm sure Montgomery is a very nice place, but it has everything to do with the way we have been playing and my lack of confidence in us coming out of there with a win.

The other reason...Middle Tennessee is loaded with talent...some for the '16 class...but especially in '17. It will help increase visibility to these kids, playing in their back yard.
It will also help UT fans in West Tennessee by moving the game a few hours closer. Fans in Memphis have to travel 6 hours to get to Knoxville, but it is only 3.5-4 for them to get to Nashville.
