BG v Cleveland State
BG plays Cleveland State tomorrow. There is no state of Cleveland. What a dumb name.
CSU is 4-4. They beat Marshall and lost to Louisville and Toledo (by 5). They look to have some great 3 pt shooters. Games on ESPN 3. Looks fun.
1. Lewis (3) 6-2 190 SO Guard (8 games, 8 starts) 18ppg, 42%3PT, 4rpg, 3.8apg (Penn St Transfer)
2. Yates (1) 6-2 185 SO Guard (8 games, 8 starts) 8ppg, 37%3PT, 2.4 spg (Creighton Transfer)
3. Keane (20) 6-2 185 JR Guard (8 games, 7 starts) 5.5ppg (Illinois St Transfer)
4. Mason (42) 6-6 220 SR Forward (8 games, 8 starts) 10.5ppg, 57%3PT, 57%FG, 5.4rpg
5. Grady (15) 6-8 225 JR Forward (8 games, 8 starts) 11.8ppg, 5.8rpg
Bench
Zollo (41) 6-8 230 JR Forward 2.9ppg
Hales (11) 6-4 185 FR Guard
Lee (31) 5-8 160 SR Guard (2 games, 1 start) 8ppg, 44%3PT, 4.5rpg, 3apg

Re: BG v Cleveland State
There is no state of Bowling Green either? * shrug *
Anyhow, I'm really bummed to be missing the inaugural Bill Frack challenge. And for that matter the next home game as well. I cannot really complain about the schedule itself too much, just dumb luck that these games keep falling on major holiday commitments for me. Had it been reversed and been Sunday this week and Saturday the next would have been fine....
I will say that I could have made it to today's game if it was the old school noon Saturday tipoff....I do kinda miss those games, although I get why they've pushed them back. Last week was fun being able to hit BG after the victory and grab a bite to eat and some beer...even saw coach Jans out & about later on.
Hope we pull out a win today. CSU is a quality opponent and is exactly the type of team I'd like to see us play on a yearly basis. A mid-major similar in stature to us...it could develop into a good rivalry. (and I could see some road trips to Cleveland to watch those games if we started doing it that way)

Defense looks bad so far but they are truly hitting everything. On offense they are picking us up at half court and we are struggling to get through it.
Re: BG v Cleveland State
Going back to the game with Dayton Clarke has now missed 13 straight shots.
Cleveland also taking it to us pretty good so far the first 15 minutes. BG down 11 pts.

Other than being Dbags CSU is doing everything right. They have exposed our ballhandlers, they have exposed us as having terrible shot selection and they are finding holes all around on offense. The only thing we are doing better in is rebounding.

Finally at the half they went by them and found an open shot. Stop trying to run the offense thru Holmes 30 feet from the basket please.

11 turnovers so far and bad shooting
Re: BG v Cleveland State
BG on a 14-0 run to take a 2 pt lead
Re: BG v Cleveland State
Getting a little chippy down low. BG up by 2 with just over 12 min left.
Re: BG v Cleveland State
What a difference a half makes. BG goes from being down 12 to now being up 12.
If Clarke can make shots and we play like we have the first 12 min of this half we will be tough in the MAC.

Up 12. Much better decision making. Falling into about an 8 man rotation with Orr out and Tisdale and Mayleben not seeing many minutes. Looks solid, only fear is lack of size.

Re: BG v Cleveland State
Took everything they did wrong in the first half and did it right in the second. The decision making from the pgs and some of the shot selection needs to improve but they battled back in a game they looked totally outmatched in the first half. Having Clarke not have to be the PG is so important.
