Bowl Game
Bowl Game
Not sure if anyone even cares about this game, is anybody even going? We plan on going as long as the weather is good. Not going to sit in the rain though.
I don't know much about USA but I imagine they have decent speed. I would expect them to spread the field and pick us apart like WKU did. I can't say I expect a win after the last three games. Even if the defense plays well they will be hung out to dry by our falconbust offense.

Re: Bowl Game
Funny thing is we were making plans to attend the bowl game, wherever it was, prior to the MACC. Even being on the losing skid we were on, we didn't look absolutely terrible. But after that game, we just threw away all of the plans. Why plan on driving that far or flying that far just to watch us stink it up, regardless of where we were going or who we were playing. And if we manage to win? Well, it'll be nice to see that, but I'm quite content watching that from my couch at home.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Bowl Game
They've rushed for 2191 yards and thrown for 2282, so they're balanced.
Weather looks like it could be an issue, rain and temps falling into the 40s.
People will get their wish with Callaway seeing playing time. Hoping for a win for the seniors, but, fully expect a colossal flop with all the off field stuff that has happened leading up to the game.

Re: Bowl Game
South Alabama was the best matchup we could have hoped for in terms of an opponent (other than maybe Penn State, whose offense makes ours look like a well-oiled machine). They just fired their offensive coordinator and are bringing in a guy from UAB, although I'm not sure what role he'll have in bowl prep.

Re: Bowl Game
Both these teams are mediocre so its hard to get excited for anything, even more so on BG's end after the embarrassment of the MACC and the issues off the field the last ten days. Too many bowl games now for these games to mean anything other than ESPN hyping up the CFP non-stop for two weeks. I hope BG wins but in the end will it mean anything? Congrats, you defeated a 6-6 Sun Belt team in probably the worst bowl matchup of the year.

Re: Bowl Game
Can't fault you for that, for me this is probably been the least likeable falcon football I have watched since the late 90s. I only go to one game a year. I have been fortunate that we seem to schedule a team almost every year that isn't a terrible drive for us. Troy, Florida, Miss St, WKU, and now Tennessee and Memphis coming up are also nice day trips to see us play. Getting a game in Montgomery which is only about 90 minutes from my home was an unexpected bonus for me. Just wish there were more reasons to be excited about it.footballguy51 wrote:Funny thing is we were making plans to attend the bowl game, wherever it was, prior to the MACC. Re: Bowl Game
I'm looking forward to the game. South Alabama has a solid D. Our O got a good early lead on Ball State and was doing fine on the first drive against NIU until a pick in the red zone. If our O can put together a few scores and an early lead, we've got a good chance because South Alabama's O is not doing very well and does not seem to be built for catch-up mode.
We've not won a bowl game since December 2004 against Memphis. I'd sure like to end that nasty streak. And we've got a better opportunity to win a bowl game than the last two years.

If a fan is uninterested in the game....don't watch.
Re: Bowl Game
Many of us diehards will root and support BG in this game.
Re: Bowl Game
I will always support BG Sports. However, after watching this disaster of a season and the total lack of discipline, I cannot imagine we will ever improve much under this coaching staff. Babers doesn't get it. He has no control over his players and either refuses to make adjustments during a game or has no clue what to do. I doubt he ever reaches his promised land of a major college coach. I don't expect his contract to be renewed and I hope we never make a Falcon Fast mistake again.

I'll be there. Fly to Atlanta Saturday morning and a two hour drive to Montgomery. Rain or not, it's BG football and there are 12 (or 14) times a year that I get to watch it. The last 3 games have been disappointing. But I've bought into the Bo Pelini philosophy expressed earlier this year that each week is its own momentum. I think that's the case, almost without any exception, across the country at every level of football.
Bring on kickoff.

Re: Bowl Game
Hope it'll worth the trip for you guys. Looking like morning rain and then some clearing for kickoff. Players need to seize this opportunity and end the season on a high note.AyZiggy97 wrote:kdog27 wrote:Not sure if anyone even cares about this game, is anybody even going? Any reports from players or fans in Montgomery? I've never spent time there and curious what the atmosphere is like. Thanks
