Interesting. Hopefully this will lead to having a single OC and some more varied playcalling.

Bigger question will be recruiting.

Who recruited Morgan?

Good point, suppose we will find it out soon enough.

So many questions...

Does Tulsa pay that much more than us?
Why leave one non-Power 5 school for another?
Why both? Package deal?
Where do we go from here? Hire within?

I feel bad for the players with coaches bailing on them. First Clawson's whole staff, then both their OCs. Tough.

Welcome to college football. Babers must be a little miffed too considering he brought them along from EIU. Be interesting to see who gets the job.

As far as I know too this offense was developed by these two, so Dino has an important hire to make here if he doesn't plan on changing the offense.

They're both Texans....Mattox played for Briles at Houston...so I imagine Tulsa with Briles guy looked like a better fit than a school in NW Ohio with a Briles guy.

Gilbert coached QB and Mattox was also involved with the OL...so there's more than just the one spot to fill.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Mattox - $100,000
Gilbert - $90,000

The only coach listed for Tulsa is d coordinator, Brent Guy - $308,295. No idea if he is being retained.

Just for fun, McCloud makes, $140,000. So I'm guessing their coordinators do make a lot more.

Hard to complete with that... maybe we could pay our coaches well if we only had 4-5 of them? ](*,)

Of couse we could combine the salaries into one position... But still surprised that Tulsa would pay that much....more than several OSU assts. ( tho not co- ord.)

I just hope we cankeep Nick Monroe...too good a recruiter, especially in Fla.
Little surprised no bonus bucks for achievement etc. and I sure as HECK hope Dino does a re-evaluation of all the E. Ill. Guys he brought with him.

I think pretty much anyone outside the MAC and some within are promotions for our coaches.

It's not as simple as combining the salaries and paying more for one OC. NCAA teams are mandated 9 assts as a limit. In 2014, BG had co-OCs which likely cut the pay for each. It'll be interesting if the new OC is closer in pay to Coach McCloud

That, my friends, was #FalconFast. I never cared for the Co O Coordinator stuff...and the way some of our play calling went this year, this may be a blessing in disguise. Coach Babers has a big decision to make here...

I have never been a fan of the two offensive coordinator system. When I think of 2 OCs, I just think of the 2008 season. We had a passing game coordinator and a running game coordinator. Our offense included Tyler Sheehan, Anthony Turner, Chris Bullock, Willie Geter, Freddie Barnes, Corey Partridge, Chris Wright, Marques Parks, Jermiah Kelley, and Jimmy Scheidler, along with a solid offensive line anchored by Ben Bojicic. I would say the 2008 offensive talent rivaled the 2004 and 2013 offenses.
All of that talent, yet they sputtered time and time again against mediocre MAC defenses. It seemed to me like the offensive play calling was the biggest hindrance to success that season and was easily the worst and least creative play calling during the Brandon years.
2008 also happened to be the one year with two offensive coordinators. The previous year the OC was Mick McCall and he led a nice offensive turnaround in 2007. 2008 it felt like the playcalling was a result of too many hands on the wheel.
I hope 2015 there will be only one OC. I felt like the offensive play calling regressed down the stretch, with the exception of the bowl game where Knapke had more passing options over the middle.

Agree, Freak. I could very easily see this ending up as a POSITIVE move. I have no idea how good of coaches they really are, but a sign of a good position coach is that their position improves over ther year. OL might have got better but James sure struggled until the bowl game. Like Freak, I thought a LOT of the "in game" offensive calls were very questionable, but wasn't privy to know where the problem was.
The highlight of the problem(s) was the call to go for the FG after a TO and not having a kicker on the field. Not only should it not even have been a quest to go for the FG, but the FG team should have been ready a play or two before the timeout!
I also think the staff needs some more Ohio/Michigan/Pennsylvania influence.
