Brady Hoke would be an awesome OL coach....

The Freak may be right. My impression is that coaches who know this secret sauce are in great demand right now.Falconfreak90 wrote:That, my friends, was #FalconFast....

I had a friend who worked at Tulsa. Lots of oil money around there. They have less than 4,000 undergrads and it's VERY expensive-something like $35,000 a year just for tuition.
Re: Both our OCs Headed to Tulsa?
Whither loyalty indeed. Good riddance. Babers gave them full-time Division I coaching jobs at EIU when one was an assistant at a no-name Texas high school and the other coached at a JUCO.jpfalcon09 wrote:
Welcome to college football. Babers must be a little miffed too considering he brought them along from EIU. Be interesting to see who gets the job.
Let's get people committed to Falcon football and this community. Let's get people who overachieve and not underachieve. Let's get people who coach players and make in-game adjustments when the defense in on the field and not just stand around. This is an opportunity to improve the program.
Re: Both our OCs Headed to Tulsa?
One person we should look at is the ex-OC at Nebraska Tim Beck, a person rumored to be interested in the HC job here last year. He'll definitely have other opportunities but has a background that fits.

Hopefully we just pick one coordinator and go from there. I'd like to see this staff win something before we start rewarding them with salary raises.

OL coach, coordinator experience, spread background and knowledge of the MAC: former UB coach Jeff Quinn. The former UMass coach is now the wide receivers coach at Idaho so it's not a stretch for someone like him to come here.

Zach Azzani...former asst here, experience under the Meyer and Jones versions fo the spread. Excellent recruiter.... Let's give him the OC gig and find a good OL coach

That may be the REAL problem. Sounds like 2-3 people thought they were in charge of the offense!

Makes you think that's why Sterlin and Matt left, perhaps Dino wasn't going to give them to the keys to the BMW and they felt that Montgomery was going to give them more say in the plays. It just seems odd that these two would jump ship only after one season...maybe they see bigger plans for themselves in the future.factman wrote:mscarn wrote:Jordan Strack sets the record straight:

Re: Both our OCs Headed to Tulsa?
If Babers does run the show then why waste 2 coaches as offensive coordinators? Seems like overkill.

Couple things: unless Strack in the headset how can he be 100% certain who makes calls?
Mattox and Gilbert announced as OL and WR/QB coaches at Tulsa, not CoOCs
Don't think we could afford Azzani who will be a great HC someday. I saw him on a faster track than Matt Campbell and can't believe he hasn't landed a HC gig yet.

Seems like Dino could either not hire an OC and call the plays like Bowden does in Akron, or he'll probably reach out to someone he knows is familiar with this type of system and go that route.Dayons_Den wrote:Couple things: unless Strack in the headset how can he be 100% certain who makes calls?

I'm still surprised Gilbert and Mattox took what is deemed a demotion in a pretty lateral move. Either they're getting a nice raise or something happened between them and Babers this year. As far as I know they don't have any direct ties to Montgomery or anyone from the Baylor staff.

I think Mattox and Gilbert both had direct ties to Briles...not sure about their history with Montgomery.
