Walking wounded.

Post by HoopsFan »

Any news on the walking wounded? Jas, Erica, and Leah? I wonder if Leah will ever get into a game this year with her swollen knee....

Oh well, perhaps the BGRSO guys will have a status on the pre-game show.

All of the injured players are to see doctors sometime after Christmas according to Coach Roos. Haven't heard anything more than that. She did say they would announce it because she knew that Falcon Nation wanted to know. I hope good news will be forthcoming.

Todays Blade is reporting the following -

Erica Donovan and Lauren Webb are both out for the season with torn ACL's.

Leah Bolton's career as a Falcon is over due to reoccurring leg injuries. She is applying for a medical retirement.

We are now down to nine players on the active roster.

What does this mean? Never heard of that.

Sorry to hear about all of the injuries this poor team has had to deal with. :(

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

From Fran Voll, she keeps her scholie, but I think it puts her in a different category. Maybe like (?) Gompers?

And Matthews was in uniform but did not play...she's apparently got a medical issue as well. IF Matthews can't go an Puk is injured, that puts us at seven.

Can Kelsey Bates or Erica Fullenkamp hoop at all? Volleyball season is done and they're seniors, so it isn't like they'd be missing any conditioning work... :)

Suzy Merchant is in the same boat up at MSU...she's going against a really good Michigan team with only 7 healthy players.

Haley Puk often uses a boot post practice or game to protect an earlier injury and to aid her in staying game ready. Jasmine is battling that lower body injuries which have been with her for awhile. Bolton's situation is sad given her potential in 2013. The extra minutes for the remaining players will be taxing. Losing Donovan and Webb is just a terrible break. I know they will work hard to get back and Erica was right there helping from the bench Saturday. If there was ever a case for an extra year appeal, it would be her. But I don't know the rules.

What this team needs right now is unconditional support. The numbers are few and the ages are young, but the will is there. Positive results will be difficult to come by- no use sugar coating that- and home crowds etc will be very vital. We need our fans of all types to step up. The staff, the players and the program have earned it. Adversity can make you stronger. Especially over time.

Go Falcons!

Another scholarship player would be a great thing to have in a situation like this. That's why they give you 13 to use.

And, while it's been mentioned before on other posts, I believe that WOMEN's BBALL is allowed one MORE than men's. So can't figure out why we're under the limit by 2 schol. Only guess would be we couldn't get player/s that Jennifer wanted, so didn't use up schol. This yr. but weren't we under the limit LAST yr. too? :-k
