First goal was a result of the ice, puck jumped over a BG stick and then he flubbed the clearing attempt which led to 3 on 1 slam dunk goal. RMU was able to feed off that and tie it before BG was able to settle back down. Nell played a great game but it showed that the guys had been off for a month, lots of rust, bad passes and bad penalties.apollo wrote:At least we didn't lose, but giving up a 2 goal lead in the 3rd period to RMU isn't really something good teams do.

The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

Have to eat my words on this one. Despite the rain and cold, the game was pretty darned awesome. Decent crowd, plenty of fired up BG fans, fair number of Robert morris fans, great atmosphere. I was dreading the sightlines but it actually wasn't too bad from anywhere I was at. Was the view as good as at a regular game? No, but it wasn't so bad as to ruin the game experience.
Lot of credit to both teams for playing a hard fought game under terrible conditions. I was down at the ice (son got to ride the zamboni between 1st and 2nd periods, talk about a once in a lifetime experience!) The ice was absolute garbage.

fun game! fortunately there was enough room to move under cover, and the sightlines weren't too bad from anywhere on the second level. I stood the whole time, but nice to be able to move around. plenty ofjbakerifm wrote:Have to eat my words on this one. Despite the rain and cold, the game was pretty darned awesome. RMU is no pushover, we'll need to straighten out some things by tomorrow.
congrats to your son on his zamboni experience!

Coach Jans was there also. Really neat to seeing BG Coaches supporting each other!jpfalcon09 wrote:Fun experience despite the weather, also was able to chat up Kingston and Babers between the periods. Good turnout for the BG fans!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Tonight's Walleye game has been changed to Sunday, 5PM
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Now that this game is over, can we put it in the "we did it but please never again" box? I don't think I've ever felt so disconnected from a game. I honestly can't say which players stood out as i couldn't see who was on the ice. Couldn't hear the announcer either.

Announcer sound was pretty bad. Stuff on the video screen had fine sound though. Never been to a Mudhens game so I can't compare, but it seemed like maybe a tech issue. Didn't have too much trouble seeing who was on the ice.
Curious to see if they are going with Nell full time now. Coach B said after the game he played due to his first half performance but nothing about going forward, if he'll continue to split with Burke.

Re: Outdoor game
I agree with you. Wish they would have canceled our game and pushed it to another day. I got home and threw everything into the dryer, took a hot shower, and it still took me a couple hours to feel warm again. Also, I agree that I had no clue who was on the ice at any given time. I might as well have watched two random teams play, because I felt about as involved in the game with BG playing as I would have had two other teams played.pdt1081 wrote:So much for "rain or shine. We had a great time! Not happy about giving up the 2-0 lead but it was fun. The rain sucked but I'd go again in a heartbeat.
