No new kid yet. BG shooting poorly, and a couple of shot clock violations. We trail 22-16 at the half.

Re: at Kent State
Went to the game. We fell behind by as many as 12 in the 2nd half and rallied to cut the lead to 2...then missed a wide open 3 with about 35 seconds left. Poor shooting again...and we lack the inside game right now. Kent was only 2-11, 0-2 MAC going into this game. Good to see Jasmine Matthews back on the floor today. Just gotta keep fighting...

Asking a lot to have role players like Justinger and Hoekstra shoulder the scoring load...but they have to start making some shots

Re: at Kent State
I don't know if you can consider them role players this year. Of the players that have been lost for the season only Donovan was a starter and while obviously the best player on the team, Hokestra and Justinger were starters that have been counted on for rebounding and scoring. The overall downfall of this team has been the loss of Donovan. The others lost were end of the bench players before getting hurt. The team basically does not have the depth and experience to get over losing their leader. Right now a .500 season appears to be the very best that we can hope for and I am not overly hopeful for that given that four of the last five losses have been to teams that had a losing record at the time.Flipper wrote:Asking a lot to have role players like Justinger and Hoekstra shoulder the scoring load...but they have to start making some shots

I believe Abby has started most, if not ALL games this year, in addition to Erica. That is nearly half of our starting lineup, and when you consider Jazz was a starter before her injuries, that is more than half! Deb was first off the bench until she was forced into the starting role.

I indicated I was only referring to players that have been lost for the season. Certainly the other two injuries have hurt but based on performances played this season already, the game losses would have likely still occurred. The whole thing is not a criticism just an outlook on the season as is and to come.factman wrote:I believe Abby has started most, if not ALL games this year, in addition to Erica. Let me clarify that a little...going onto the season neither Justinger or Hoekstra would be looked at as the first option on offense...maybe Justinger would be a second option..but with Donovan out they're looked at as the primary options on offense and that's a role neither has filled during their career here. Hopefully, the shots will start falling because they're both quality players.
