Richaun Holmes: Grown Ass Man

Post by Rollo83 »

Richaun Holmes is MAC Player of the Year in my book to this point. Today goes for 18-12-5 against the Kitties.

Watch his 2 awesome dunks today...

Was at tonight's game. What an awesome game he had. What a performance. Was quite a showing. Beginning to wonder, will we see his name on the wall with the other greats?

Dude is a flat-out baller! Wish we had him for a few more years. God I would love to see him and this team win the MAC Tournament and get us to the NCAA Tournament!

Richaun has turned into a tremendous player. What makes yesterday's stat line even better is hat we were able to rest him and he got that 18 & 12 on only 26 minutes.

And I think he had at least another couple dunks than just the two seen there.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

It'll be interesting to see what kind of attention he'll get from NBA scouts.

In the low post, he's not getting a chance to display a diverse array of skills away from the basket. At 6-8, scouts will need to see that. There's a decent chance he'll go undrafted, but that will be okay. He'll have opportunities in the camps and the NBA summer league.

Holmes could project out as a Marvin Williams-type player.

He could make it as a pro...but probably not here in the USA. Speaking of playing abroad...former Falcon Isaac Rosefelt is one of the top rebounders in the Israeli professional league.

WIth Richaun's body type he projects as a SF at the NBA level and I just haven't seen him do any of the things an NBA SF is asked to do. That's not to say he couldn't do them, with time, but I don't see him as a legit NBA prospect at this point. And I don't really care, either. He's a fantastic MAC player, and collegiate player in general. I'd love to see us put some guys into the pros again, but it's pretty unlikely that it'll be post players that we can put at that level.

I'm in agreement. There are 6-8 PF's in the league but I don't think he quite has NBA potential; a little bit undersized, and he's a very good athlete but not an NBA-level athlete. Probably a very long and successful career overseas though because he is a great all-around talent.

I think if he's hiven a chance he will make it. You guys are being a bit too prototypical on this. Will he ever be a starting power forward in the league. That's unlikely. But what you look for off the bench is an active guy who can defend and stretch the field. Holmes is very athletic a great help side defender and has surprising range on his shot. He might not have the body to bang now but that doesn't mean he won't get there later.

But there are guys available now with better developed skill sets and who are closer to NBA ready physically. And a lot of them go undrafted. He's a very good MAC player....but I don't see him in the NBA.

That's just it. I don't think he'll be given a chance, and it's because of his body.

He's not a PF in the NBA. Unless he puts on a lot of weight, he'll never be a PF in the NBA. No matter what he does he'd be undersized for a PF in the NBA.

His only path to the pros is as a SF, IMO, and he just doesn't do enough outside shooting/ball handling for me to say he can do it. Maybe he can and we just don't see it. More likely he's a guy that can have a solid pro career overseas that will never be given the time of day by an NBA club. There's no shame in that, but just the way it is.

NBA PF is the elite of elite in terms of pure athletes. Richaun is a good athlete, but I don't think he's an NBA PF level athlete.

I disagree. He is a stud athlete by almost any measure. I won't be surprised at all if he is in Europe or the d league or the nba next year. He will with little question be on a summer league team this year and we will see then. The nba is full of misfit bodies. You just have to find a way. He seems incredibly coach able. People will love that for the end of the bench.
