BG vs Akron - is this gonna be the one???

Post by BGSU33 »

Below is BG’s current streak vs. Akron over the last 21 games. BG has lost 20 of last 21 games to Akron. That is not a typo. What’s more, BG has lost 12 consecutive times to Akron and what’s even worse than that, BG has lost 10 consecutive HOME games to Akron! The Falcons have not beaten the Zips - in Bowling Green, Ohio – since January 18, 2003 of the 2002-03 season when guys like Ron Lewis, John Reimold, Kevin Netter, Cory Eyink and Jabari Mattox started for us that day. It’s been that long! Hell, and it even took a 5-for-9 performance from three by Cory Ryan that day to beat Akron! And we’ve played Akron every year at home since that game but one (during the 2004-05 season). If this team is lacking motivation to get up for the Zips on Saturday, then someone needs to copy this and put it in every locker for the rest of the week. I’m gonna be there and Dear Lord can we finally end this streak?!

Joyce and I are planning to come see the double header on Sat. We were at the Akron game a couple of weeks ago...would be hard to see a worse performance than that one.

Just saw on Twitter that Akron has already sold one bus load for the trip Saturday.

I really hope they do not have more students at this game than we do.

The four of us will be there and fired up!

Saturday is the Freddie & Frieda beheading, so I expect a whole fraternity and a sorority to be there until halftime.

Not surprising at all. It's been their home away from home for more than a decade now. I'm sure they'll have a good group of fans there.

That's exactly the point! No way should any MAC team be doing this to us. Period.

Once again, is it really that shocking? It's not shocking to anyone here because it gets posted 2 weeks in advance of every matchup with Akron. Louis Orr coached Bowling Green. Therefore, Louis Orr lost almost every game to Akron. Not shocking at all. Akron has won alot of games against BG in a row, mainly because of Louis Orr. Louis Orr no longer coaches at Bowling Green. However, several of Louis Orr's recruits still play on the team. If BG losses on Saturday, rather than the long winded post about being owned by Akron, just remind yourself how far Louis Orr set the program back, and during that time Akron was good. Chris Jans will do just fine going forward against Akron and every other program in the MAC, regardless of this Saturday.

They'll stick around after halftime to take some "Duck-Faced" selfies with their sister or brother while the game continues. They need photos for the House to prove how important they have been to the campus. The focus needs to be getting the other athletes, friends of basketball players and freshmen from the dorms to fill the prominent seats so there are no open pockets of seats when the Greeks run off to selfie. What I have noticed is now that the ushers have disappeared the students randomly fill in the better seats which is fine except the orange bleachers look very lonely.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

They were probably just looking for any opportunity to leave Akron.

Even if we outnumber them they still might out-cheer us. It could be a repeat of the away game at O$U in hockey this year, except we'd be the ones being made a joke.

BG is a 4.5-point favorite??? Vegas must not be aware of the decade of dominance by Akron in Bowling Green.

Your favorite statistic is the first thing Vegas knows, yet still made BG -4.5. Vegas also knows Louis Orr isn't coaching the team either.

Line is now down to -3.5.

I hope this is the most attended game since MSU was here on 12/18/2012. 4291 attended that day. Last year 3182 were here for our rivals. I can't remember if it was a special occasion but our highest attendance this season was 3022 for Chicago State?

Would love to see 3500+ this afternoon and a huge W!
