Does Siggy need to be #1 or do we want both Siggy's?

I am starting to wonder if I should rearrange my voting order to Jonathan as my #1 choice and Jordon as #2. Maybe alternating my voting order each day.

Here's my thinking....

I personally want both Sigalets to end up in the Final 10. We keep Jordan's voting up strong and near the top, but start to push Jonathan into the top ten. We still have one more stage of voting - the Final Process - where I think voting starts anew. Of course, I could use my wife's email address and vote for Jonathan as #1 choice on hers and Jordan as #1 on my email address.

So am I correct in thinking the real goal might be to get both Sigalets into the Final 10. Then voting like madmen to get and keep Jordan as #1 during the Final vote. Do we do any voting in the Final Round? I can't find that info on the Hobey website. I thought we did?

What's more important - Jordan finishing the Preliminary round as #1 or having both Sigalets in the Final 10?

What is the thinking on this issue? Any thoughts?

As of 10:45 this AM, Jordan is in second place by 1,765 votes. Jonathan is in 10th (finally!!) by 23 votes.

Voting rules for Hobey are thus:

Welcome to Vote for Hobey. Each year, Vote for Hobey gives college hockey fans an opportunity to cast their ballots for the sport's most prestigious individual honor.

Vote for Hobey consists of three phases:

1) Nominating: Running from Jan. 4 through Sunday, Jan. 23, fans may visit hobeybaker.com and nominate as many players as they would like for consideration in the balloting. Each player with at least 25 nominations will be placed on the Preliminary Voting ballot.

2) Preliminary Voting: Running from Monday, Jan. 24, through Sunday, March 6, fans may cast one ballot per day for their first-, second- and third-place choices for the Hobey Baker Award. The fans' tally will be combined with the votes of the 58 Division I head coaches to determine the 10 finalists for the award.

3) Final Voting: Between Thursday, March 17, and Monday, March 28, fans have the opportunity to cast their final ballot for the award. The results of the fan vote will be counted, along with the votes of the Hobey Baker Selection Committee, to determine the recipient of this year's award.

Okay, so our votes count in the Final Round, which was what I remembered (couldn't find it on the Hobey site). Now the issue is getting and keeping Jonathan in the top ten and hoping that the 58 coaches feel the same as the fans.

The question remains as how to do that and keep Jordon at or near the top of the list. Maybe the two email addresses is the answer.

What are others doing? What's your opinion?

In reality, I think the fan voting actually accounts for very little of the committee's decision as to who the ten finalists are and who the winner is.

As such, I suggest keeping Jordan at the top and not being quite as concerned with Little Sig. Little Sig's a sophomore, hence he's got two more cracks at this. Jordan is a senior and this is it for him, his one and only shot.

My hope is that if the committee sees all the support for Jordan, they will name him a finalist for the award despite other goalies having better numbers this season. For although the criteria on hobeybaker.com doesn't mention statistics at all, they certainly play a role.

I think alot of us understand that our voting has little weight compared to the 58 coaches and the selection committee.

Concerning, Jonathan being a sophmore and still having time, that's true, but it is also his last year to be a finalist with his brother. Which explains the desire of many of us to get Jonathan in the Final 10 - if our voting has any impact.

I am just wondering about the voting strategy of others concerning Little Siggy.

Think about this... just about everyone that votes for Jonathan is putting him 2nd to Jordan... i would assume. So that says a lot for him, to have that many votes, even with his brother infront of him.

Honestly after this weekend I would not feel bad about voting Matsumoto first. Not down-playing Jordan at all, but Mats was on FIRE this weekend.
He, Foster and Nesdill put on quite the show this weekend. What do they have in common???

They are both in the top ten right now, Jordan being #2, with a nice lead on #3, and Johnathon is #10, squeaking up on #9. I don't think anything short of advertising Jordan more is gonna help. Remember the huge boost he got after the ND game? We need more of that.

I don't care what you guys do, but personally, I'm gonna vote Jordan for 1st until I can't vote anymore...

Not saying I don't appreciate any of the other guys... but they're young... Jordan's about to go out into the "real world"... they've got a couple years... just my opinion

I agree, sorry if I was unclear. I'm still going to vote for Jordan. Matsumoto was our best player this weekend no questions asked though. With all the talk about the Sigalets, let's not forget him either.

Those three have been getting my votes from Day One. But I think I am taking up some type of strategy (switching my list each day - or a second email address) to start pushing Jonathan up into the top 10.

But without a concerted (sp?) effort from all of us, it will be a moot point.

Concerning Matsumoto and Jonathan - with BG's young talent - The future looks bright; we might have to wear shades.

Well whatever "strategy" we choose... Jonathon Siggy just fell back to 11th behind another NMU player. I think the best strategy is to go vote and stay consistant in your votes! Tell your friends too!!
