Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Finally, at Buffalo on a Saturday -- and early October!
Unfortunately, what could have been a killer home schedule gets hosed by ESPN . . .

Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Disappointing that I'll only be able to attend three home games, gotta bend over backwards for ESPN though!
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: 2015 Football Schedule
3 Saturday home games has to be the fewest in the country.
Re: 2015 Football Schedule
LMAO! THey're going to try and get people to pay more money for season tickets to a 3 home game schedule? HAHAHA....
Good luck with that one marketers. I'm done with season tickets to this program. I picked them back up last year after taking a few years off and I gotta say life is so much better without the commitment.

Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Yeah. I've seen people balk in the past at schedules, and I've shrugged. This year's schedule takes the cake for worst one ever.
insane in tha membrane
Re: 2015 Football Schedule
What sucks most to me is this is the 5th consecutive season that we will open the MAC schedule on the road. We also only play 1 of our first 5 games this season at home, and despite being a MAC East school, we close the season with 3 consecutive games against MAC West schools.
GO BG!!!
Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Long time reader, first time poster. I am the parent of a current player and I'm ticked, to be honest. This schedule is incredibly unfair to the team, particularly the seniors, and unfair to fans who hit the road every weekend. The non-conference schedule could have the team mentally and physically beat up before the conference schedule begins, and make chances of earning a bowl bid a slim. I understand the need for money but three money games in one season? It's ridiculous. I'd like to say a lot more, but I think I've made my point.
Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Here's what bugs me so much. There are four critical must win conference games, and they happen to be our four home conference games. The home conference slate could not be better. Yet two of the games are now on weekdays, including our biggest rival. I am absolutely sick of this MACtion and these midweek games. The beauty of ESPN3 is that there are enough broadcast crews to allow us to get broad online exposure via ESPN3 on a weekend or any day for that matter. I'd rather have a larger crowd for a Saturday game broadcast online on watchespn.com than a quarter filled stadium where the loyal alums cannot make it to the game due to work and many students cannot make it due to class broadcast on ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Welcome aboard! The non conf slate is brutal. However the Tennessee game wasn't exactly planned, it happened. Would have been a home game against South Carolina State but their university may be shutting down for the academic year so that game is gone, then UAB was scheduled to play at Tennessee but UAB killed their program, so both us and Tennessee had a need for a game the same day.DrACTV wrote:Long time reader, first time poster. Had the SC State game not been cancelled, we would have six home games including an FCS to tune up, one money game at Purdue, and the start of a series with Maryland. That slate would have been pretty similar to the last three years.
It would be nice to beat any of the three big ones and frankly I think it is quite possible. But my top hope is for the team to walk into conference play without injuries.

Re: 2015 Football Schedule
Thanks, Mark. I enjoy everyone's passion for BG and the football program. Sometimes comments are difficult to read because I know how hard the guys work year 'round. I too get frustrated when guys mess up, especially my son, but I just would like everyone to remember that the players want nothing more than to do well, and they absolutely bust their butts to get it done.
Back to the schedule...can anyone explain to me the logic in not playing every team in your division? I would much rather see BG play two crossover games and keep Miami on the schedule. As for four weeknight games...all I can say is the MAC does not give a hoot about fans.

Re: 2015 Football Schedule
For those who hadn't heard and/or had forgotten, I just wanted to lay out the reasoning for the five-game home schedule.
We had every intention of having a six-game home schedule in the fall. However, when South Carolina State backed out of the agreement it made to play at Doyt Perry Stadium, it left us without a home game just nine months prior to the start of the season. As most of you know and understand, most football games are scheduled years in advance. When UAB announced its decision to terminate its football program, it allowed us an opportunity to replace the South Carolina State game by adding the Tennessee game (which UAB was scheduled to play). Given the option, we certainly would not have chosen a five-game home schedule, particularly given the quality of the opposition in non-conference play. That being said, this is a positive outcome for BGSU given the circumstances.
