Re: Buffalo Writer Discusses Saturday Night Showdown
Couldn't help but think the Buffalo team was just much more naturally talented than we were in that first game. I hope like hell we can find a way to scrap out a win, but they're playing well. As much as I cannot stand him, Hurley has that team going quite well as we get close to tournament time.
Pulling out a win and ending up int he top 4 would be a GREAT finish to this regular season. C'mon boys!

The game is on Friday.
UB is making a big deal out of it. I've heard a few radio spots saying they are going for 6000 fans and having a "whiteout". This is the first time I've ever heard them boosting hoops.

Re: Buffalo Writer Discusses Friday Night Showdown
Funny how Buffalo rarely gets the preseason publicity of, say an Akron or KSU -- but the always seem to have a decent team. At least that's my memory, which obviously could be flawed.
I will be very surprised if BG pulls out this win. They had a chance to all but lock up the East with those very winnable home games, and they couldn't finish. That's a carryover from the Orr regime, I'm sure.
I look for a loss and a relatively early exit from the MAC tourney as well. Hopefully, it will all help motivate those coming back and the coaching staff. There is a ton of potential here to be tapped. BG could rise to the top of the East as quickly as next season. Just have to sweep out the last of the stink of losing that might be in lockerroom.

I don't see a problem with motivation at all. Several players have stepped it up this year. Parker, Henderson and Clarke in particular. I feel we have a talented team, but they're just a step behind the top 1 or 2 teams in the league. Despite that, they are still in it in the last game of the year. I couldn't have asked for any more coming into the season. I'm not especially confident about this last game but even a loss won't change my mind about this being a good start to the Jans era and a sign of good things to come. I strongly believe he's the coach that will break the streak as long as he sticks around long enough to do it. It's still possible this year and that alone is something to be positive about.
