WCHA "Final Five" Semis vs. Michigan Tech

Post by jpfalcon09 »

The Falcons move on to the Final Five for the second straight year in a row. Last year they fell to Minnesota State in the semis at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

BG split the two-game season series against the Huskies this year, losing 4-3 and winning 3-2 in Houghton. The Huskies are ranked #5 in the PWR, BG sits at #12. A win will all but guarantee BG an at-large NCAA bid, a loss will make things a bit narrower.

Few notes:

Tyler Spezia comes in riding a two-game goal streak. He got the OT winner Friday and scored the tying goal on Saturday.

Brandon Hawkins leads the team with 16 goals and 30 points, including two goals in Saturday's contest.

Tommy Burke will get the start in net.

Game is at 5:07 EDT on Friday and can be seen on FOX Sports North, channel 668 on DIRECTV for those of you with satellite or who want to watch it out. You can also purchase the game for $9 at wcha.tv.

Anyone know of any local restaurants that might have the game playing?

It would have been a great case for BGSU to have a "watch party" at the Stroh or a place like BWs or Frickers to host a watch party. I asked about this weeks ago to several in the athletic department and it was more or less washed under the rug politely.

Alex Bricker has started a group to get a watch party together at BW3s and he's already called the manager and made sure it will be on the big screen.

If you have Facebook, consider joining the group and inviting your local friends to watch. He wants to get a big turnout.

I guess I'm a little slow....I finally posted it in new thread! LOL!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."
~~USCHO Poster
"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

No way! I guess a BWs watch party is out of the question Saturday night. Guess I'll be buying the video feed. ](*,)

DISH is showing both games airing live, I believe on Ch. 451 Friday and 443 Saturday. Though they're listed as "ALT" channels, so I'm not sure it will be available until the game starts.

I see that Comcast has it on Channel 723...but I didn't realize it would also be on Fox Sports Plus Detroit so I'll have to check that out as that channel should be HD. Channel 723 is not.

Bdubs should still be able to get FOX Sports North to put it on, I know for certain they'll be carrying the games live.

Just got confirmation that Friday's game will be shown live on STO at 5:00. The championship game will be aired on Sunday at 2:00, obviously tape delayed.
