"Thank you" BG administration
"Thank you" BG administration
To whoever and however many people it involved to make the decision to host that CIT game, I want to say "thank you." Obviously the game didn't go well for BG, but I was grateful and appreciative that our administration made a concerted effort to host a game. It was nice to see a level of commitment there as a alum and fan and because of it, we went to the game. This was the first time BG hosted a postseason game in its 100-year history. Think about that for a minute. I get that it wasn't the NCAA Tournament or even the NIT, and some people question whether teams should even play or participate in tournaments like the CIT or CBI, but I for one am glad we did. By doing so we finally put an end to our 40-year postseason drought with a win in the first round, and then we hosted a game for the first time ever - something many of our MAC peers have done before and continue to do. I was very happy for to see BG show the same level of commitment as some of our peers have done. I enjoyed getting to see us play two more games after the MAC Tournament. So as an alum and fan, I say "thank you" and I hope we do the same again in years to come when the NCAA Tournament is not an option.
GO BG!!!

It seems "whomever they maybe" have done just about everything humanly possible to make things happen for we, the fans; and there remains little interest around town.

I actually thought the turnout for the town wasn't bad Saturday. Certainly it was better than most of the regular season. Unfortunately, the student section was abysmal. I don't think there were 25 students there (unless you count the band).zete wrote:It seems "whomever they maybe" have done just about everything humanly possible to make things happen for we, the fans; and there remains little interest around town.
It did not take a single season to destroy our fan following, and it will not come back in a year. It would have been nice to WIN that game and build some fan momentum going into next year, but it's still something.
Oh, and I thought Jans was right on. The few times we made a run in that game the crowd was as loud as it has been all year. Unfortunately we just couldn't get anything going with any consistency and in the end got beat pretty bad.

Animarathon at the Student Union outdrew the basketball game by probably a factor of 2-3....I was there watching my daughter and her friends. (Gotta love the women that commit to the Harley Quinn costumes) .
Maybe if they opened a cosplay section at the Stroh...

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I was wondering what the hell was going on with all the funky costumes I saw walking around town...Flipper wrote:Animarathon at the Student Union outdrew the basketball game by probably a factor of 2-3....I was there watching my daughter and her friends.
