Exactly. Just another notch in the belt, right along with never, ever winning the MAC Tournament and being the only MAC team to ever not do so....not being in the NCAA Tournament in almost 50 year....what else am I missing.....CrazyFan wrote:Man......it's a good thing we haven't lost the last 21 out of 22 to Akron or we'd really be in a hole.....................BGSU33 wrote:What - in - the - hell?!?! ...... I had to read this over a second time thinking it had to be something I missed from April Fools. Nope. Just another dubious day in BG basketball history. This damn program can't get out of its own way anymore. Watching this program try and get up off the floor (which we finally did for one season before this) and stand on its own two feet is like watching the episode of the Three Stooges where the boat is filling up with water and Curly picks up a drill and says "Oh, a water-letter-outer" and drills another hole in the boat. If it's not one thing, it's another. What the hell is next? I liken this program anymore to Centralia, Pennsylvania. On the surface it looks nice, it's quiet, it even has a nice landscape to it. But below the surface it's burning, smoldering and feeding itself as it falls deeper and deeper into an ashy hole it can't ever stop or get out of. That is us.![]()

I guess that I'm not emotionally invested to the point of hysterics....

I'm pretty emotionally invested, but more proud of the university than anything. No public knowledge incidents, best season in a LONG time, and they made the RIGHT move for my alma mater.Flipper wrote:I guess that I'm not emotionally invested to the point of hysterics....
I'm pissed off at Chris Jans because he was a damned good coach, and I'm pissed off that we're back to square one, but I'm quite proud of Chris Kingston today.

Re: Chris Jans Fired
+100. Kingston knows what kind of coach he had and could have tried to sweep this under the rug or at least delay it, but he made the decision he clearly felt was best for the university and Bowling Green basketball. I have complete faith that he'll bring in someone else to take BG to the next level.BGSU33 wrote:This. I feel bad for all the people Jans brought with him to BG.
When we get this program where we want it we need to do it the right way and if he couldn't do it the right way then bye-bye.

We dont even know what happened yet, how can you be sure it was the right decision?
Re: Chris Jans Fired
There are enough people that I trust telling me it was the right decision for me to believe it.Globetrotter wrote:We dont even know what happened yet, how can you be sure it was the right decision?

They cant figure out how to get enough hot dogs on hot dog day.
Re: Chris Jans Fired
Completely agree. This is a public university and the stakeholders have a right to know why the most successful coach we've had in years was just fired. Vague tweets about cell phone videos doesn't cut it. We don't know whether this was a rash decision or not because information is being withheld. That doesn't cut it. Not to go all Tom Cruise, but hard, concrete answers are what's needed.Globetrotter wrote:We dont even know what happened yet, how can you be sure it was the right decision?
The holier than thou sentiment seems to pervade around here, but what was so egregious that a second chance wasn't warranted? We don't know and might not ever know definitively. Without knowing what happened and speaking generally, I don't like the precedent of casting people aside. Eighteen sports and one team? Why twenty one wins and one chance? The monumental disruption and embarrassment that it has caused for the program better damn have been worth it.

Re: Chris Jans Fired
I am not saying they shouldnt have done it, maybe they should have, but this isn't good for BG in tons of ways. We have what 15 people who care enough about the basketball team to post on here regularly. That's crazy. 1200 go to games. As we move away and on with our lives BG sports and BG in general take up less and less time and stuff like this just make it seem like whats the point. If they just hire one of the assistants it will just be another Orr "wait until next season" year. That's terribly unfun.

Re: Chris Jans Fired
I don't think it's a matter of being holier than thou. I trust the judgement of the people running the show. f**k 21 wins....if he screwed up badly and embarrassed the school to that extent then its time to say goodbye
