Re: Chris Jans Fired
Somebody already said something about him doing this at Wichita. I am most upset about hiring Jans if he was already doing this. It's not like dudes just start going out to party in college bars in their 40s. If there was a history in Wichita why did they hire Jans in the first place?

Who says they knew about that history? By the sounds of it, there were rumors he did this in Kansas. Nothing was ever brought to the University about it then or else I'm sure BG would have known about it.JohnFloyd4Life wrote:Somebody already said something about him doing this at Wichita. ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Chris Jans Fired
I'd like to touch on something that sort of struck a nerve with me from the chain of emails, which is 100% non-Jans related - this has nothing to do with the Jans issue at all - this is an independent thought and topic altogether. It's the part where Ron wrote about BG "being a rare town" saying BGSU "is one of the few universities that has immediate access to bars within walking distance to campus."
That is completely UNTRUE! There are many, many other colleges and universities across the country that have much closer promimity to bars than BG does. I have been to over 250 colleges and universities (that is not an exaggeration) through working and personal travel over the past 20 years and BG/BGSU is not rare in that example at all. In fact, the majority of BG's bars are further away from the majority of BGSU's campus compared to numerous other schools. Not all schools, but many, including several in the state of Ohio and some of which are our peers. I got the immediate impression he hasn't been to that many school across the country to make a statement like that. To say BG/BGSU is a "rare" situation when it comes to proximity of our campus to bars would like saying BG/BGSU has more hills/mountains than many towns/universities across the country. Not true whatsoever.

GO BG!!!
Re: Chris Jans Fired
I would caution all those who say his career is over. America LOVES a good redemption story. I am not condoning the actions but he sits anonymously in the second or third chair as an asst for a few years, the Wichita or ETSU trains roll and all of a sudden he gets a another chance. Remember he has a background in JUCO ball and this unfortunately is almost a badge of honor there.

I will go one step further & make a bold prediction. I predict Wichita State hires him to replace the guy who just left.OptionQB wrote:I would caution all those who say his career is over. Having said that, I'm glad Kingston and BG acted as quickly as they did, & didn't let a 21-win season and nice coaching job in 2014-2015 keep them from doing the right thing.
Re: Chris Jans Fired
I've already sent an email to Kingston thanking him for reacting appropriately here.
I'm not in the least surprised to see the video and he was exactly where I figured. Reverends is my favorite place in town and I had seen Jan's in there quite frequently. Typically he was alone, and I can honestly say he was never crazy drunk or acting like this in any of the instances I saw him there, although since I'm kind of an old guy now I've never been there at this hour when he was there.
Either way the more it comes out the more I feel Kingston made the right decision. He'll coach again...no doubt about it. But it won't be here.

Re: Chris Jans Fired
The drinking and being drunk publicly is one thing but the groping and tossing around bitch to women like that was absolutely inexcusable. I just come back to what if that was my sister or daughter he was physically and verbally accosting. Definitely right move to gas him.

While his lack of ability to win games was apparent, this does make you appreciate the high level of character Orr always had. Whenever I saw him in public he was always extremely friendly and respectful. Hopefully Kingston looks for a guy with that kind of character for our next coach...just with better results.
Re: Chris Jans Fired
Jans wife not living in bg didn't help any of this situation at all.

Well, this is just sad. http://www.si.com/sites/default/files/d ... 4-2-15.pdf" target="_blank
I can say this now, but a million years ago, I worked at the phone company and happened to be on the 1:00 to 10:00 shift. My immediate supervisor, who was on call, drank his supper and dessert at Petti's Alpine Village one night. He was toasted, and came back into the C.O. He got terminated right then and there. The District Manager called me into his office and had a discussion with me about the sins, not of drinking, but since he was supposed to be on call, that got him fired. He also asked me not to discuss this with my co-workers.
I'd like to say I never did anything stupid with alcohol. Geeze, I'd like to say that. Most of it involved Too Kill Ya.
I don't do that much anymore, and I don't hang out in bars.
My wife, and RN, suggested he might be able to appeal based on alcohol rehab, but it's such a long shot.

The Joe Tiller name drop is pretty funny. I mean it's not like Purdue is squeaky clean either. Look no further than the mens basketball coach they employ.

The entire email is funny. "We don't want to go national".
Re: Chris Jans Fired
Check Twitter. The family is gloating and retweeting all about him being fired.

have you been to every stadium? How much do you like Athens as a town? When is the last time we beat Akron?BGSU33 wrote: I have been to over 250 colleges and universities (that is not an exaggeration)
