Bobby Hurley staying at Buffalo

Bobby just signed a new contract this morning making him the highest coach in the MAC. Base salary of $550,000.

That's a $300,000 raise. He made $250,000 this past season.

1) Where are they getting the money from?
2) Is this just a temporary play because the jobs presently available (DePaul, Fordham, etc.) are unattractive?

Sad to see Buffalo pulling out all the stops to save Hurley, when they know well enough it is only a matter of time.

To bad for Buffalo. They would have ended up netting money on a buyout.

Wonder if there was a home and home clause in there. It's pretty standard these days for that to be included or require a large buyout for the game.

Going strictly off of what was said in that article, it sounds like both sides could stand to grow up a little. It wasn't about money but he wanted to be the highest paid coach in the league. He got it but wasn't happy that it was only by $1000. Sure can't blame him for moving on for the kind of raise he's getting at ASU and it sounds like buffalo could have handled things a little better too, but this doesn't all fall on them by the sound of it. They offered him a raise of over 100%. Who gets that kind of increase? Not many.
