VW..I see what you're saying...no, a few drinks shouldn't be a problem if you don't make an ass or a criminal out of yourself....that should apply to players, coaches or really anyone walking this earth.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Chris Jans Fired
The inappropriateness of the behavior does not appear to be at issue. Proportionality is. The last thing that should be associated with this entire situation is "pride" over how any of it has transpired. Disappointment, confusion, betrayal, anger, so be it. But I don't see anything to be proud over.
Pride that this took place?
Proud over a decision being made at the barrel of a gun?
Pride at a man being judged exclusively for a single moment of emotion and weakness in his life?
Pride at a public show-trial?
Pride towards a community filled with decent people but whose insularity makes gossip over the behavior of public officials a favored sport?
Pride about not helping a loyal university employee address a malady classified by the American Medical Association as a disease that directly contributed to the incident?
Pride about a group of student-athletes whose lives have been turned upside down?
Pride about three recruits who signed letters of intent to spend four years of their lives with a group of individuals that will most likely be gone by the time they get to the university?
This is a ugly, sad and dark period for the program and the university as a whole. The administration did what they felt was in the best interests of the program, but singing hosannas to them about integrity and pride seems misplaced.

Wait, wait. So you're saying that it's okay to sexually harass a woman because alcohol makes you do bad things? Ridiculous. I have absolutely no tolerance for men who act in such boorish ways. Blaming the bar, his CHOICE to consume alcohol, or the people who filmed and confronted him is pathetic. Have some moral courage.mscarn wrote:The inappropriateness of the behavior does not appear to be at issue. Proportionality is. The man has revealed himself to be an ass. He sexually harassed AT LEAST two women. The University made the right choice to get rid of him.
Re: Chris Jans Fired
Nope. Not saying that at all. Never OK. (i.e. "The inappropriateness of the behavior is not the issue" statement leading off the post) The point was that there is nothing to be proud of in this whole sordid ordeal.jg4242 wrote: Wait, wait. The horse twitched
I get the feeling that Jans' partner in crime was dismissed before the coach. BG is advertising for a DBO as of 3/27.
