ADDITION
Let me help you on Defense:
OLB - Joe O'Neill was much better than the rest listed - just an opinion.
MLB - YOU MUST ADD MIKE CALCAGNO. He was the hardest hitting MLB of all time. He single handledly led the turn around of Blackney's first Defense. Ask anyone he played with or coached him.
Great work otherwise...
Dont get too crazy with the Killer B suggestion - Bair was good, but cmon.

NYFalcon94 - your pledebrother was a geek! Someone above corrected me, Doug Smith was the guys name.
Kevin O'Brien was a good OLB.
My freshman year, I was on o-line scout team and had to block Calcagno every once in awhile. Your right about one thing, he was the toughest guy I have ever met, but I don't think he was one of the best. He had 3 super d-linemen in front of him. The 3 "Amigos" ???? Well I'm not sure if that was it, but they called themselves something like that. Paul Harris, Mark Ross and Steve W - something - I can't remember his last name. I don't recall seeing a better combined d-line for BG since.

What do you mean you havent heard of any of the receivers, Rob and ron redd? cole magner? charles Sharon? Szlacschic? have you been living under a rock? all of those guys were the top falcon receivers, I did miss some lineman.. I have trouble rememberin those guys. We have had some great full-backs.. but the guys i have were the old time fullbacks back wen that was a premier position and they are in my mind the top falcon fullbacks.

Hecker played in the early to mid 50's, and Heard in the 80's ( I think)...I don't think I'd include Bautista in that group, if only because he was a JUCO and only played 2 yrs. Stands to reason that his name would be more familiar to younger guys, but I wouldn't put him in same class as most of the other WR's you've rightfully included.gerl4 wrote:Ronnie Heard, Jack Hecker? I played receiver for 5 years there and I haven't sean there names once.
Overall, I think you did a nice job of including a lot of Falcons who've "faded" away in people's memories....
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

I'm just playin with ya big dog. Those were the years I was away in Iowa for college and playing soccer so I didn't get to listen or attend really any games, but there usually was one star that stood out in the game summaries, and it was #4.gerl4 wrote:you know... the guy who had 18 td's, 151 catches, and 2,200 yds. Freshman of the year in 98'. That guy.
all bowling green
Doug Smith, C, played for the Rams from 1978 - 1991.NYFalcon94 wrote:I think you are confusing Brad Smith with a guy I pledged with and he was definitely no football player. The wuss transferred to Michigan after his freshman year. Speaking of Michigan, aren't we playing them next year?Falcon52 wrote:I think that lineman's name was Greg Smith or Brad Smith? Something like that.

Warthog - I hate the fact that one of Doug's goals was to play for ohio state and that his hope were dashed by playing for BG.
At the time that may have been the case, but I wonder what he thinks now of all the BG success?
Someone do a where are they now on this guy. Over 10 years in the NFL, is he involved much inour program today?
