I believe we only give the free parking to premium seat ticket holders, not the cheapest seats. And when you're talking about buying a package of 4 tickets for a family the food vouchers and team shop stuff has a lot of value.Class of 61 wrote:Brian, hammb wrote:Actually you can and this has been a major bone to pick for me for years. I don't mind paying the current ticket prices because I'm a big fan of bg sports, but a casual fan in the area can get a helluva lot better deal just up the road. Ut continues to offer an awesome budget ticket plan for cheap season tickets that come with parking, food vouchers, and team shop vouchers.Falconfreak90 wrote: As others have said, you cannot beat the ticket prices at BG for football. I have no problem paying $25 a game instead of $18.
All while we struggle to get fans to hoops and football. Anybody that is a casual fan if the sports and doesn't have an affiliation with either university would be a fool to choose bg. For the life of me I cannot figure out why we don't offer something similar.
Not sure if your criticism is totally justified...last I checked I DO get free parking as part of my season ticket package... No, we don't get anything special re: team shop, but even then, I recall getting a special " pre season" booklet, which includes a %off deal at bookstore, at Doyt or in the Union. That leaves only a concessions voucher missing from what you say is included by TU( sorry, but thats what we called them back in the day)![]()
And based on most folks comments about the concessions, is that really a bad thing?![]()
I recall, and some of you will too, that we used to get a free t-shirt...would much rather have the free parking.
And UT's tickets that include all of this were $70 last year. I'm not sure about last year but for this year our cheapest ticket option is $60 (and that is a 5 game schedule). To me, UT offers a much better value for both men's hoops and football.
Like I said, price isn't an issue for me because if I'm going to get tickets it'll be for BG...I have a connection to the university. For anybody that is debating between the two, though, UT is the much better value (IMO).
Of course, all that being said, I'm not so sure that there are many people out there that are thinking to themselves they wanna buy tickets to one or the other and aren't sure which one. It seems almost everybody here in NWO has a connection to one University or the other that would make that decision for them. The question then becomes are we doing enough to get the Wood County folks who don't have a connection to BG to come to the games? Not sure we are, but I'm not sure what the answers are either.
I was merely stating I get annoyed by always hearing how BG sports are this awesome value that cannot be beat, and those people are comparing it to tickets at a place like OSU. The truth is UT offers better value right up the road, and has for years. And while the concessions aren't real good, they did give us vouchers a few years back and I found it to be a pretty great perk...I know I used all of mine.
